satisfactory the requirement for such medical evidence for short term absences will be <br />removed, and the employee will be notified in writing. <br />13.6 Any abuse of sick leave or the unjustified patterned use of sick leave shall be just <br />and sufficient cause for discipline, including discharge, as may be determined by the <br />Employer, subject to the grievance and arbitration procedure. <br />13.7 All full-time employees shall receive two (2) eight (8) hour days off, with pay, or <br />the employee may elect to receive sixteen (16) hours pay for each six (6) consecutive <br />months of unused sick leave. Unused sick leave days earned may be carried over, if not <br />taken within one (1) year of date of day earned, to the following year, with a maximum <br />of five (5) days. <br />13.8 Accumulated unused sick leave time may be converted at the time of retirement <br />or death for all full-time members of the bargaining unit. The payment for all those who <br />qualify under this Section shall be based upon the rate of pay of the employee at the time <br />of his retirement or death, and payment sha11 amount to one-half (1 /2) of the unused <br />accumulated sick leave time, but in all instances, the maximum amount paid shall not <br />exceed an amount in excess of four hundred and eight (480) hours for 1995, 1996, 1997. <br />13.9 Full -time employees may use up to fifteen (15) work days per year of earned and <br />accumulated sick leave if necessitated by illness in the employee's immediate family. <br />For the purpose of this subsection, "immediate family" shall be interpreted to be spouse, <br />children, parents of the employee, regardless of the place of residence; and other <br />relatives living within the household of the employee. <br />?.. <br />? <br />18 <br />?
