He shall perform such <br />other duties consistent with his office as may be required by <br />this Charter, by ordinance of the Council, or as directed by the <br />Mayor. <br />The Department of Public Safety shall consist of the follow- <br />ing divisions: <br />A. Division of Fire <br />(1) The Division of Fire shall be in the active charge <br />of a chief who shall be responsible for its organi- <br />zation and supervision. <br />B. Division of Police <br />(1) The Division of Police shall be in the active <br />charge of a chief who shall be responsible for its <br />organization and supervision. <br />C., Division of Buildings <br />(1) The Division of Buildings shall be in active charge <br />of the Building Commissioner who shall be respon- <br />sible for its organization and supervision. <br />D. Such commission shall be appointed on January 2, 1971, <br />shall review juvenile and sociological problems in the comm~mity, <br />and within nine (9) calendar months after such appointment, <br />tender its report to the Director of Public Safety, including <br />any recommendations which it may have for the prevention of <br />juvenile delinquency and for legislation to be submitted on such <br />matters to Council. The members of said commission shall meet <br />from time to time thereafter to make further recommendations as <br />in their judgment are desirable. They shall hold such appoint- <br />ment for a period of five (5) years." <br />"Article V, Section 5: Department of Public Service <br />The Director of Public Service shall have charge of the De- <br />partment of Fublic Service. He shall not hold any other elective <br />or appointive office or other full-time employment, public or <br />private. He shall make all necessary rules and regulations for <br />the government of the department and the divisions thereof. He <br />shall have charge of all engineering, construction, inspection, <br />maintenance, repair and cleaning of all the public improvements <br />and properties except those parks and recreation facilities which <br />are the responsibility of the Department of Public Safety. He <br />shall have charge of the construction, operation, and maintenance <br />of all public utilities operated by the City. He shall have charge <br />_ ~~,~ _ . <br />
