C <br />- 10 - <br />~~ <br />28. It is recognized that the Waste Water Treatment Plant will be manned <br />on a contiguous operation schedule and individual employees will <br />be assigned to work schedules accordingly. <br />29. bnployees shall be allowed not less than thirty (30) uninterrupted <br />minutes for a scheduled lunch period daily except for other schedules <br />mutually agreed upon with the Union. <br />30. There shall be two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods on each <br />shift each work day. The rest periods, to the extent practicable, <br />wi11 be scheduled during the middle two (2) hours of each shift but <br />they may not be scheduled inmaediately before or after the meal <br />period or at the start or end of a shift. <br />31. Commencing January 1, 1974, employees will be paid time-and-one-half <br />of their straight time rates of pay for hours worked in excess oP <br />eight (8) in any one work day and time-and-one-half of their straight <br />time rate of pay for hours worked in excess of forty (40) in any one <br />work week provided, however, that there should be no pyramiding of <br />overtime. <br />Distribution of Overtime <br />32. The City shall be the sole fudge of the necessity of overtime and <br />employees shall be required to work overtime when assigned. An <br />employee will be excused from an overtime assignment for reasons <br />acceptable to the City except for emergencies during which only <br />extreme circumstances will excuse failure to work. "F~ergency" is <br />defined as any impairment to City services or operations which <br />cannot be delayed uatil the beginning of the next regular work day. <br />33. The City shall endeavor, insofar as it may be practicable, to make <br />a generally equitable distribution of overtime work among employees <br />within a classification and department who are capable of performing <br />
