The City and the Union recognize that each party must <br />comply with the applicable state and federal laws with respect <br />.. <br />to safety and health. The City shall continue to make reasonable <br />? <br />? provisions for the safety and health of its employees. <br />A. Required personal protective equipment shall <br />be issued to regular full-time emnloyees and <br />shall be replaced if the equipment is worn <br />out and is returned to the City for replace- <br />ment. <br />An employee who does not return the equipment will be charged for <br />the replacement cost, except in cases, <br />.. <br />(1) In which the equipment was destroyed by <br />accidental conditions beyond the employee's <br />w?r control in the work area, or <br />?- (2) If the equipment has been stolen and the <br /> City has failed to supPly the employee with a <br />? place to lock up his equipment. <br />,.. <br />B. A safety committee consisting of the Service <br /> Director and his designee and two (Z) safety <br /> rePresentatives appointed by the Local Union <br /> shall confer at regular monthly intervals, <br />wr if necessary, for the purpose of attempting <br /> to maintain safe working conditions for <br />?- employees in the Bargaining Unit. Additional <br /> meetings may be held if required by unusual <br />? circumstances.
