Section 18.01. Sick Leave shall be defined as an absence necessitated <br />by personal illness or injury, inc~_uding pregnancy, to the employee <br />arisir:g on any scheduled day of work. <br />Section 18.02. Full-time ei^ployees shall receive annual sick leave <br />according to the follo~ring formula: <br />Sic}~ Leave Hours Per Year = Ten (10) Hours x r~ionths Worked <br />Accu:~:ulated Sick Leave shall continue to be represented on all <br />full-time employees pay stub. <br />Section 18.03. Sick leave shall not be paid to any full-time <br />employee, which exceeds fourty (40) hours in any given week. A week is <br />defined as 12:01 AP4, Sunday to 12:00 Piidnight Saturday. <br />Section 18.04. An employee who is to be absent on sick leave shall <br />notify the Employer of such absence and the reason therfor at least one <br />half hour before the start of his work shift each day he is to be absent. <br />It is recognized, however, that an employee who is to be hospitalized or <br />is recuperating from such hospitalization shall not be required to call <br />in on a daily basis. Such employee shall be required to notify the <br />City on the first day of his absence and shall be required to keep the <br />City regularly apprised of his anticipated date of return. <br />i <br />Section 18.05. A full-time employee who is absent on sic}; leave for <br />an entire scheduled work day shall be charged at a maximum of eight {8) <br />hours of sic}: leave and shall be paid at one-hundred (100%) of their <br />regular rate. An employee who is absent for a portion of a scheduled work <br />day shall be charged the amount of time absent to the nearest minute and <br />shall be paid at one-hundred (100%) of their regular rate. Sick leave may <br />not be transferred from one employee to another. Sic Y, leave may not be used <br />fcr less tt-ian one (1) hour. <br />Section 18.06. A full-time employee who exceeds sixty (60) hours of <br />paid sick leave time, without a major illness, will be paid at a rate of <br />seventy-five percent (75%) of his regular rate rounded to the nearest cent; <br />for those hours above the first sixty (60) and up to one-hundred (100), in a <br />calender year. <br />A full-time employee who exceeds one-hundred (100) hours of <br />paid sick leave time, without a major illness, will be paid at a rate of <br />fifty percent (50%) of his regular rate rounded to the nearest cent; for <br />those hours above the first one-hundred (100), in a calender year. <br />,Major illness is defined as the use of sick leave by the employee for <br />his surgery, broken bones, hospitalization & recuperation, etc. <br />Section 18.07. Before an absence may be charged against accumulated <br />sic}~ leave, the Employer may require such proof of illness, injury or <br />death as may be satisfactory to him, or may require the employee to <br />be examined by a medical doctor. In any event, an employee absent for <br />more than three (3) consecutive working days must provide the P14MBL <br />medical form statement to be eligible for paid sick leave. <br />Section 18.08.
