part-time employees in the Transit Department. However, it is <br />understood that such part-time employees are to supplement the work force <br />and are not intended to fully replace any particular full-time <br />classification. For purposes of this Agreemer:t, a "fi.ll-time <br />employee" refers to an employee who is guaranteed forty (40) hours <br />per week, and a "part-time employee" refers to an employee working less <br />than thirty {30) hours per week. If an employee is not a "part-dine" <br />employee, then he shall be a "full-time" employee. <br />Section 13.02. Part-time employees shall be permitted to work in <br />any job classification, except may not be permitted to work as <br />mechanics, or as material handlers. This excludes work hours credited to <br />summer work porgrains and students. <br />Exceptions to part-time work allotments would be permitted after discussion <br />as per Article VI, Section 6.02. (a). <br />Section 13_.03. In the classification of bus operators; part-time <br />operators will be limited to no more than twenty percent (20%) of the full- <br />time pick roster. Part-time bus operators may not work on Saturdays, <br />Sundays or Holidays. <br />Section 13.04. In the classification of hostlers; up to a fifty percent <br />ratio may b2 part-time. (eg. 5 full-time hostlers + 5 part-time hostlers). <br />ARTICLE XiV <br />SENIORITY AND LAYOFF <br />Section 14.01. Seniority shall be determined by continuous <br />service with the Transit Department. Continuous service shall only <br />be bro};en by retirement, resignation or discharge. One seniority list <br />shall be maintained for full-time employees. Seniority shall be adjusted <br />for when an employee is in a •no pay status' (eg. personal off, sick leave <br />off without pay, cr a lea~;e of absense withctit pay) any of which exceeds the <br />the greater of ten (10) days or eighty {80} hcurs in a calender year. <br />Seniority will not be affected by discip).inary suspension time. Only that <br />time above the ten (10) days or eighty (80) hours jaill be used in adjusting <br />that employee's seniority time. <br />Section 14.02. Seniority within the Transit Department shall <br />govern for all purposes, except for the scl~~eduling of runs for <br />operators only, which shall be goaerned on the basis of seniority <br />within the operator's classification. The operators having the most <br />seniority, during a run pick, shall have the first choice of runs and <br />so on down the list until all runs are filled. Any runs or assignments <br />which are not picked for any particular day shall be assigned to <br />the first extra operator for that day from the bottom of the seniority <br />list. <br />Section 14.03. adhere, because of econoir:y, consolidation or <br />otherwise, the Employer determines it necessary to reduce the size of <br />its work ford , such reduction shah be ^,ade in accordance with the <br />provisions hereinafter set forth. <br />Section 14.04.
