r <br />will recognize one steward and one alternate from each of the <br />following: <br />1. Building Department 4. Finance Department <br />2. Police Department 5. Engineering Dept. <br />3. Recreation Department <br />The steward shall represent employees on all three shifts. The <br />alternate steward shall be recognized when the regular steward is <br />abseht or otherwise not available. <br />Section 2. Employees who participate in meetings under Step <br />1 of the Grievance Procedure, during their scheduled work time, <br />or other meeting scheduled by the City under the Grievance <br />Procedure, during the scheduled working time, will be paid for <br />time actually lost from their scheduled work time for the purpose <br />of participating in such meetings. The investigation and <br />processing of grievances by union representatives during working <br />time shall be limited to the last fifteen minutes of a shift. <br />Section 3. The Local Union Grievance Committee shall <br />consist of the President, Secretary, Chief Steward and/or Vice <br />President and/or Steward from the department involved, but not <br />more than five persons. When there is a reduction in force, the <br />following union officials shall be retained in preference to all <br />other employees, provided they can perform the available work: <br />Chairperson and Stewards from City Hall, Recreation, Police, <br />Building and Finance Departments. <br />Section 4. In case of a suspension ,or discharge or a <br />formalized disciplinary meeting the employee shall have the right <br />to have his steward present and, upon request, will be permitted <br />- 5 - <br />
