That the organization of the Fire Department shall consist of not less <br />than twenty (20) nor more than twenty-eight (28) sworn full-time employees who are <br />certified paramedics; and that effective as of January l, 1982, and thereafter, <br />any sworn full-time employee performing the duties and functions of a certified <br />paramedic shall be paid an additional compensation at a rate of Four Hundred Dollars <br />($400.00) annually. Such compensation shall be paid by the Director of Finance at <br />the second pay period in December of each year. Any person obtaining certification <br />as a paramedic after January lst of any year, shall be paid on a pro,rata basis. <br />Any person failing to be certified at the time of the closing of the second pay <br />period in December of any given year, shall not be qualified for said additional <br />compensation. <br />The provisions of this Ordinance with respect to the pay of Four Hundred <br />Dollars ($400.00) additional compensation shall not be applicable to the Fire Chief, <br />Assistant Fire Chief, and the Fire Prevention Officer/Inspector. <br />D. One (1) of the above officers, other than the Chief or the Assistant Chief, <br />shall be assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau as Fire Prevention Officer/Inspector <br />and shall be paid additional comnensation at the rate of $450.00 annually for all <br />time spent while assigned to the Fire Prevention Bureau. <br />E. That excluding secretarial and clerical employees, all full-time employees <br />of the Fire Department having completed five (5) years of full-time continuous ser- <br />vice with the City, shall be paid an additional four percent (4%) of their base <br />annual salary, thereafter until completion of the tenth (lOth) year of continuous <br />full-time service, after which such employee shall receive five percent (5%) of <br />their base annual salary, thereafter until the completion of the fifteenth (15th) <br />year of continuous full-time service, and thereafter six percent (6%) of their base <br />annual salary until the completion of the twentieth (20th) year of continuous full- <br />time service, and during each year of full-time service thereafter they shall receive <br />seven percent (7%) of their base annual salary as longevity increments. <br />F. In computing length of service for the purpose of making payments of <br />longevity increments hereinabove set forth, no credit shall be given for part-time <br />service, but such limitation is only the purpose of computing longevity increments <br />and the exclusion for part-time service shall not deprive any employee of any other <br />benefits which ma.y be due for part-time service as employees in the Safety Department. <br />G. That effective July 4, 1983, the City of North Olmsted sha11 nay the full <br />amount of hospitalization costs, with a deductible clause for all full-time employees <br />of the North Olmsted Fire Departznent with either Blue Cross and Medical Mutual <br />Hospitalization Plan, the Kaiser Community Health Foundation Plan or other commercial <br />plan. Nothing contained herein shall be construed so as to affoxd said coverage to <br />either part-time or temporary employees. <br />H. In addition to the regular base salary nlus increments and other wage in- <br />creases, all regular employees of the Fire Department, including officers, shall, on <br />their original appointment and during the first calendar year of their appointment, <br />receive Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($350.00) clothing allowance, and sha11, <br />during each calendar year thereafter, receive a clothing allowance of Three Hundred <br />Seventy-Five Dollars ($375.00). Said allowance shall be controlled by the Chief, <br />however, any employee may purchase regulation clothing and be reimbursed upon <br />presentation of a satisfactory receipt. <br />I. That all full-time emplovees of the North Olmsted Fire Department excluding <br />secretarial and clerical help, shall be entitled to certain holidays during the year <br />and shall not be required to work on these holidays unless scheduled to work by the <br />Fire Ch3:ef. In the event the employee either works or was not scheduled to work for <br />reasons other than holiday leave on one of the following holida_ys, then the employee <br />shall receive another day off from work to replace the holiday he worked, or was not <br />required to work for reasons other than holiday leave. The scheduled holidays are as <br />follows: New Year's Day, President's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day: Independence <br />Day; Labor Day; T'hanksgiving Day, Christmas Day; Veteran's Day, the employee's birthday; <br />and the employee's personal use day.
