.. ~eITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />, ORDINANCE N0. 83-81 <br />PAGE THREE. <br />J. That all full-time employees of the Fire Department shall be entitled <br />to an annual vacation in aceordance with the City vacation ordinance <br />Al1 vacation time shall be paid at the regular salary rate except when <br />employee requests vacation credit accumulation. For the purpose of calculating <br />vacation pay, when vacation accumulation is requested by an employee, the salary <br />rate at the time such accumulated vacation was requested, shall be used to calcu- <br />late accumulated vacation pay. If, due to scheduling, vacations cannot be taken <br />subsequent to the year such vacation was earned and are accumulated and taken in <br />the next subsequent year, the rate of vacation pay shall be at the rate of pay <br />during the year such vacation is taken, provided the same is approved by the <br />Director of Public Safety. <br />K. For the purpose of this Ordinance, the following provisions apply with <br />respect to hours worked and conditions of employment: <br />WORK SCHEDULE AND OVERTIME <br />1. The regular work schedule for Fire Prevention personnel shall <br />consist of five (5) consecutive eight ($) hour days, Monday <br />through Friday. Firefighting platoon personnel shall have an <br />average of fifty-six (56) hour duty week consisting of twenty- <br />four (24) hour shifts on a threee (3) platoon basis. <br />2. Normal hours for employees working a forty (40) hour week shall <br />be from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p,m. These schedules are subject <br />to ad.justment by the Chief. <br />3. Any time worked in excess of eight (8) hours a day and any time <br />worked in excess of forty (40) hours a week, or in the case of <br />firefighting platoon personnel, any time worked in excess of <br />twenty-four (24) hours in a seventy-two (72) hour period shall <br />be considered overtime. All employees, except the Chief of the <br />Department, shall be compensated for authorized overtime work <br />at a rate of time and one half of the regular rate of pay calculated <br />by dividing yearly salary by 2080 hours. The Chief will be the deter- <br />mining authority on the necessity for overtime. Tahen compensatory <br />time is desired, the employee will determine, subject to the anproval <br />of the Chie.f, when time will be taken. The minimum time to call back <br />sha11 be for two (2) hours. <br />4. Compensatory time cannot be transferred from one employee to another <br />employee. <br />L. In the event that a member of the Fire Department of the City of North <br />Olmsted should be injured while in the line of duty due to a sudden and accidental <br />occurrence and such injury has so incaPacitated said member of the Fire Department <br />that he is temporarily unable to work, then the Director of Public Safety, after <br />determining that said injury is work related and is of a temporary nature, may <br />authorize full payment of the employee's regular salary for a period of not more <br />than ninety (90) days. If, after said ninety (90) day period, said employee is <br />still temporarily incapacitated, then the Director of Public Safety shall recommend <br />to Council whether or not to continue said salary. Council shall forthwith re- <br />view the matter and by majority vote determine whether the employee shall continue <br />to receive his full salary during recuperation.
