Further, if at any <br />time the City determines, on the basis of inedical evidence, <br />that employee is permanently disabled and will no Tonger be <br />able to carry on his duties, then the City may terminate <br />payments and insist that employee go on a pension program. <br />Any employee who qualifies for the benefits under this <br />Section shall not have his accumulated sick time reduced <br />because of a qualified accidental injury which occurred while <br />in the line of duty. 3. All full-time sworn members of the Police <br />Department shall receive one eight (8) hour day off, with pay, <br />for each six (6) consecutive months of unused sick leave, to be <br />determined by the Chief of Police. <br />4. Accumulated unused sick leave time may be <br />converted at the time of retirement or death for all full-time <br />sworn members of the Police Department. The payment for all <br />those who qualify under this Section shall be based upon the <br />rate of pay of the employee at the time of his retirement or <br />death, and payment shall amount to one-half (1/2) of the unused <br />accumulated sick leave time, but in all instances the maximum <br />amount paid shall not exceed an amount in excess of forty-five <br />(45) accumulated unused sick days in 1985, and shall not exceed <br />an amount in excess of sixty (60) accumulated unused sick days <br />in 1986, and thereafter. <br />5. All full-time sworn Police Officers shall receive <br />one eight (8) hour day off with pay for each six (6) consecu- <br />tive months of unused sick time off.
