However, no employee shall be paid at an overtime <br />rate for time spent while pursuing educational endeavors, <br />mandatory schoolino required by law or internal programs <br />instituted by the Chief of Police relating to changes in the <br />Ohio Revised Code or the Ohio Uniform Rules of Criminal <br />Procedure. It shall, however, be appropriate to pay the <br />overtime rate to employees who participate in specialty <br />programs required training at times other than the employee's <br />regular tour of duty; provided, however, that such programs <br />have been designed by the Chief of Police as programs for which <br />overtime will be paid. <br />2. Any employee who qualifies for overtime by virtue <br />of the provisions of Section 1 hereof shall be paid a minimum <br />of two (2) hours when required to report for extra duty over <br />and above his regular work day and work week. Such an employee <br />shall also be paid a minimum of two (2) hours for appearance at <br />the Rocky River Municipal Court and a minimum of four (4) hours <br />for appearance at the Grand Jury or Common Pleas Court when the <br />same are required, and are also at a time other than the <br />employee's reaular work tour. The compensation for the <br />aforesaid hours will be at time and one-half. <br />3. Any time a patrolman is required to temporarily <br />take charge of a shift command, such patrolman shall be paid a <br />premium of one (1) additional hour at a straight time rate for <br />each day he is required to do so, in accordance with Section <br />139.167 of the Codified Ordinance of the City of North Olmsted. <br />4. On January 15, April 15, July 15 and October 15 <br />of each year, each member of the Police Department shall be <br />-4-
