28. There shall be two (2) fifteen (15) minute rest periods <br />on each shift each work day. The rest periods, to the extent <br />practicable, will be scheduled during the middle two (2) hours , <br />of each shift, but they may not be scheduled immediately before <br />or after the meal period or at the start or end of a shift. <br />The rest periods are to be taken at the employee's job location, ' <br />but one member of a crew on the road, may, when it is possible <br />to do so without terminating the operation of the crew, leave <br />the area to obtain refreshments at the nearest available source <br />for himself and other members of the crew to be consumed at <br />the iob location. <br />(a) When an emnloyee in the Waste Water Treatment <br />Flant is to work an additional full or half <br />shift, the employee has the right to leave the <br />plant without loss of pay for up to thirty <br />(30) minutes to obtain a meal and obtain food <br />for lunch in the overtime shift if he is to <br />work a full shift. <br />(b) kfien an employee in the Service Department <br />is on an overtime assignment the employee is <br />provided a p aid thirty (30) minute lunch, <br />after anproximatelv four (4) hours of over- <br />time if he is to continue work. <br />(c) titihen employees in the Service Department <br />are on an overtime assignment for snow <br />removal or salting, or similar emergency <br />work, they are directed by supervision <br />either to obtain food and bring it back to <br />the yard where it can be eaten while the <br />truck is reloaded or refueled, or they can <br />eat on the road. These meal opportunities <br />are provided as circumstances, including <br />the severity of a storm permit, except that <br />the City guarantees a thirty (30) minute paid <br />lunch period after apnroximately four (4) hours <br />of work under snow or salting activity when such <br />hours are contigous to regular shift hours. <br />-14-
