JOB TITLE: <br />Nature of Work: This is skille <br />tenance and repair of mechanical <br />and facilities at the municipal <br />treatment plant.. <br />MAINTENANCE MECHANIC <br />d work in the construction, main- <br />equipment, machinery, apparatus, <br />wastewater pumping stations and <br />Work involves responsibility for the performance of a variety of <br />repair and maintenance tasks in maintaining the efficient and <br />effective operation of pumping stations and wastewater treatment <br />plant and related appurtenances and facilities. Incumbents must <br />be able to use a considerable variety of bench, hand and machine <br />tools requiring accuracy and precision. Assignments are made to <br />specific jobs and generally include sketches, blueprint, oral or <br />written instructions. Work is usually performed in cooperation <br />with or under the supervision of an Assistant Superintendent <br />Maintenance who gives detailed assistance on difficult and <br />complex jobs; however, more routine work is performed with con- <br />siderable independence. Supervision may be exercised over <br />Mechanic Helpers in specific maintenance and repair activities. <br />Work is reviewed in process and upon completion by superiors for <br />proper performance and adequacy of results. <br />Examples of Work <br />Operate machine and hand tools in repairing defective parts of <br />pumps, motors, valves, chemical feeders and related mechanical <br />equipment and recording devices of wastewater pumping station and <br />treatment plant. <br />Replaces defective elements; lubricates bearings; repacks valves <br />and pumps; replaces defective valves, motors, pumps and controls <br />etc. <br />Performs skilled machine work, welding, steamfitting, plumbing <br />and boiler repair; repairs chemical feeders, chlorine machines <br />and heating, circulating and other pumps; repairs water and steam <br />drain lines; assist in the installation of new and repairing of <br />old steam, air, water and chemical lines. <br />May be assigned to operate pumping station and treatment plants <br />on assigned shift for emergency situations. <br />Occasionally operates light automotive equipment; such as, <br />trucks, front end loaders, and tractors. <br />EXHIBIT B-7 <br />60 <br />_,. <br />
