_ .~~. . <br /> <br />JURY WITNESS PAY AND COURT PAY <br />56. An employee called for jury duty shall be granted a <br />leave of absence for the period of jury service and will be <br />compensated at full pay for absences necessarily caused by <br />the jury duty. An employee who is required to be absent <br />from scheduled work to serve as a witness called by a party <br />in a city or job-related litigation will be paid for time <br />lost from scheduled straight time work. An employee who is <br />called as a witness due to his part-time employment in the <br />area of public or private law enforcement shall not receive <br />.~. - <br />witness pay from the City. =- <br />Court pay (dispatcher): Employees who are required <br />to appear in court during their non-work hours shall be paid <br />a minimum of four (4) hours' pay. <br />SAFETY AND HEALTH <br />S~• The City and the Union recognize that each party <br />must comply with the applicable state and federal laws with <br />respect to safety and health. The City shall continue to <br />make reasonable provisions for the safety and health of its <br />employees. <br />A. Required personal protective equipment shall be <br />issued to regular full-time employees and shall <br />be replaced if the equipment is worn out and is <br />returned to the City for replacement. An em- <br />ployee who does not return the equipment will be <br />charged for the replacement cost, except in <br />cases: <br />1) in which the equipment was destroyed by <br />accidental conditions beyond the employee's <br />control in the work area, or <br />2. if the equipment has been stolen and the <br />City has failed to supply the employee with <br />a place to lock up his equipment. <br />B. A safety committee consisting of the appropriate <br />director and his designee and two (2) safety <br />representatives appointed by the Local Union <br />shall confer at regular monthly intervals, if <br />necessary, for the purpose of attempting to <br />maintain safe working conditions-for employees <br />~in the Bargaining Unit. Additional meetings may <br />be-held if required by unusual circumstances. <br />-22- <br />
