or alley or to a front or rear yard. <br />(19) "Court, width of" means the least horizontal dimension of a court <br />at its lowest level. <br />(20) "District" means a section of the City for which uniform zoning <br />regulations as herein provided govern the use of land, structure <br />and premises, the permitted heights and area or structures, and <br />the area or open spaces about buildings and structures. <br />(21) "I?welling" means a building designed or occupied as the living <br />quarters for one or more families equipped with heating and <br />separate cooking, living, sleeping, bathing and toilet facilities <br />for each family. <br />(22) "Dwelling, one-family" means a separate, detached building <br />designed for and occupied exclusively as a living unit for one <br />family. <br />(23) "Dwelling, two-family" means a separate, detached builidng <br />designed for and occupied exclusively as a living unit for two <br />families, each using separate complete housekeeping units. <br />(24) "Dwelling, multiple" means a dwelling designed or occupied <br />otherwise than as a one-family dwelling or a two-family dwelling <br />and including paratment houses, garden apartments and all other <br />family dwellings of similar character, where apartment or suites <br />are designed for use as separate complete living units, but <br />excluding hotels, motels or apartment hotels, <br />(25) "Family" means one or more persons living in a separate living <br />unit in a domestic relationship based on birth, marriage or other <br />domestic bond. <br />(26) "Floor area" means the floor space enclosed by the interior side <br />of the rough of exterior walls or fire partitions, or by a <br />combination of them. <br />(27) "Floor area, livable" means the floor area excluding any veranda, <br />porch, terrace, breezeway, garage, bay or utility room and the <br />like where the ceiling is less than four feet above the floor and <br />is not more than four feet below the grade level. <br />(28) "Foundation area" means that area within the foundation or <br />footings, excluding the area of any veranda, porch, breezeway, <br />garage, bay, terrace, utility room and the like. <br />(29) "Garage" means a building or part thereof used for housing or <br />repairing motor vehicles, excluding rooms for storing, exhibiting <br />or showing new or used cars for sale. <br />(30) "Garage, community" means a group of private garages, either <br />detached or under one roof, arranged in a row or around a common <br />means of access and erected for the use of residents in the <br />immediate vicinity. <br />(31) "Garage, private" means a garage in which no occupation or <br />business for profit is carried on. <br />(32) "Garage, public" means any garage which is not either a private <br />garage or a community garage. <br />(33) "Grade level" means the mean elevation of the ground measured at <br />the front line of the main building after landscaping work has <br />3
