Additional meetings <br />may be held if required by unusual circumstances. <br />The Safety Committee shall have the authority to <br />deal with safety procedures, safety and sani- <br />tation problems, and shall decide upon the <br />protective equipment to be used under Paragraph <br />A. <br />Section 2. In the event an employee reasonably believes <br />that a situation is unsafe, the employee shall notify his <br />supervisor immediately. The supervisor shall investigate the <br />situation on the same day or as soon as possible thereafter, and <br />take such steps as are necessary to remedy the unsafe condition. <br />In the event the employee has notified his supervisor of the <br />? unsafe condition, the employee shall not be required to perform <br />the work until it has been determined to be safe. However, the <br />employee may be assigned to alternative duties until such time as <br />an investigation is completed. <br />Section 3. The City will provide and maintain safe <br />vehicles for all employees required to use vehicles for their <br />assigned duties. The vehicle status, whether safe or unsafe, <br />will be determined by the Service Director of his designee. <br />Section 4. Employees shall be required to keep the <br />interior of vehicles clean and clear of objects such as tools, <br />lunch wrappers, cans, and" bottles. Debris such as lunch <br />wrappers, cans and bottles shall be removed and properly disposed <br />of by the end of each shift. <br />r <br />`?? 3 <br />?` - 29 -
