Ordinance No. 2006-59 <br />the event the application for a building permit as required under the <br />provisions of the Dwelling Code involves the proposed construction or <br />alteration of any dwelling or appurtenant structure on a lot having fifty <br />feet or less frontage on an existing street, such application shall, in <br />addition to the provisions of subsection (a) hereof be referred to the <br />Engineering Department who shall determine prior to the approval of the <br />application for a permit for such premises, that the proposed construction <br />or alteration does not affect drainage of surface water or waste unto or <br />over adjoining property or into any public street as maybe injurious to the <br />public safety, health or welfare and complies with the retention <br />requirements of the Engineering Department. <br />(c) <br />ck Masonry Walls. ~°~~~°a °v*°r~ <br />eal~. Exposed exterior w <br />manner• <br /> <br />New Additions or Exterior Alterations Above Grade. <br />a. Foundation above grade shall match dwelling <br />material. In the case the existing structure has more <br />than one type foundation wall, the material shall match <br />that on existing elevation. <br />Detached Garages or Sheds. <br />a. May show concrete or stucco block to 8" above grade <br />Other variations require approval by the Board of Building Code <br />Appeals. <br />(d) Chimneys, Flues and Vents. <br />(1) All chimneys, flues and gas vents, that are exterior of the structure <br />and terminate above the roof line causing them to be viewable <br />from a public way, shall be enclosed in a corrosion resistant <br />material that simulates a conventional masonry chimney. <br />(2) In lieu of above, an enclosure compatible with exterior <br />architectural elements of the structure shall enclose the metal <br />chimney, flue or gas vent. <br />(3) Definitions of a chimney, flue or gas vent are as follows: <br />A. "Chimney" means a primarily vertical masonry or <br />reinforced concrete shaft which encloses one or more flues. <br />B. "Gas vent" means a flue for removing products of <br />combustion from gas heat appliances. <br />C. "Flue" means a passageway, vertical or nearly so for <br />conveying gaseous products of combustion to the outer air. <br />b. Concrete poured or pre-cast walls with a brick <br />imprint to structure showing above grade shall be <br />acceptable. <br />
