comply with the applicable state and federal laws with respect to <br />safety and health. The City shall continue to make reasonable pro- <br />visions for the safety and health of its employees. <br />(a) Required personal protective equipment shall be <br />issued to regular full-time employees and shall <br />be replaced if the equipment is worn out and is <br />returned to the City for replacement. An employee <br />who does not return the equipment will be charged <br />for the replacement cost, except in cases <br />1. in which the equipment was destroyed by <br />accidental conditions beyond the employee's <br />control in the work area, or <br />2. if the equipment has been stolen and-the <br />City has failed to supply the employee with <br />a place to lock up his equipment. <br />(b) A safety committee consisting of the Service Director <br />and his designee and two (2) safety representatives <br />appointed by the Local Union shall confer at regular <br />monthly-intervals, if necessary, for the purpose of <br />attempting to maintain safe working conditions for <br />employees in the bargaining unit. <br />-34- <br />
