i <br /> <br />MAINTENANCE MECNANtC (Cont.) <br />Desirable Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills <br />Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and materials <br />of the mechanical trades. <br />Knowledge of mechanical principles and of equipment and machtna ry <br />used in pumping and treatment of wastewater. <br />Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of <br />the work. <br />Knowledge of the general methods and related electrical, carpentry, and <br />plumbing repairs and skill in making general maintenance repairs. <br />Ability to perform skilled mechanical tasks of a routine nature with <br />considerable independence. <br />Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with <br />employees and the general public. <br />Abi 1 i ty to work from sketches or blueprints and to understand and <br />effectively carry out oral and written instructions. <br />Skill in the use of bench and hand tools; machines and equipment of <br />the mechanical trades. <br />Mechanical aptitude and good general intelligence. <br />Desirable Experience and Trai ni n <br />Experience in mechanical re pair work with machinery, equipment, and <br />apparatus related to the area of assignment; graduation from a standard <br />high school or vocational school including or supplemented by approved <br />course work in shop practices or one of the mechanical trades. <br />-163- <br />
