,` .. Appendix 13-10 LABORER Nature of Work This is manual labor in the performance of semi-skilled and limited skilled work of a physically demanding nature. Work involves performing manual work of a semi-skilled nature which requires no special previous training or experience. Although the work is " usually performed under the immediate direction of an employee of higher rank and instructions are received at the beginning of each new job, con- stant supervision is not always available for routine and repetitive tasks which can be carried on without difficulty once they are learned. Auto- motive equipment may be operated. Examples of Work Participates in the work of crews engaged in the operation and main- tenance of the wastewater plant and related facilities; for example, repairs roofs, interior and exterior of plant bui ldings; paints bui ldings, trim, walls, and ceiling; replaces windows; doors, and locks; repairs and main- tains plant building and ground. As required, keeps records of al 1 work performed; reports need for materials and equipment on construction and repair jobs. Assists operators with general duties including hosing of tanks, ''` equipment, walks, drives, etc. Assists in cleaning duties as required '" by the nature of the operation of a wastewater treatment plant. Assists the maintenance division when requi red with their assigned work . Duty station with any of the three divisions of the Wastewater Depart- ment; namely, operational, maintenance, or system will be assigned by the Superintendent as required. As required and assigned, will operate automotive equipment; such as, pick-up trucks, automobiles, dump trucks, dempster dumpster, etc. Work will be characterized by the large variety of general duties of a semi-skilled nature which must~be done in the Wastewater Division. Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. Performs genera 1 cus tod i a 1 duties when assigned . Work can be characterized by assignment to rotating shifts and working under the Operator in charge of the assigned shift. ~. \. -166-
