? <br />? <br />"a <br />*rr <br />LEAVES OF ABSENCE <br />34. Military Leave: An employee shall be granted a leave <br />of absence for military duty under the terms and conditions provided <br />in applicable federal law. <br />35. Unpaid Sick Leave: A regular full-time employee who <br />has completed his probationary period and who has exhausted his <br />paid sick leave shall be granted a leave of absence without pay for <br />a period not to exceed six (6) months for a continuing disability <br />which is substantiated by credible medical evidence. If the illness <br />or disability continues beyond six (6) months, additional sick <br />am leave may be granted by the City upon request. The employee shall <br />a"' be required to submit proof acceptable to the City of his ability <br />ma to perform the work of his job upon the termination of the sick <br />IMw <br />leave. Any dispute as to the ability of an employee to perform <br />..m <br />a„ the work of the job shall be determined pursuant to the medical <br />... examination procedure in Paragraph 38(c). <br />"" 36. Union Leave: Upon written request from the Union, a <br />? leave of absence without pay shall be granted to not more than <br />? <br />three (3) employees for a period of not in excess of ten (10) days <br />?. <br />per year each (fifteen (15) days per year in which an employee <br />attends the convention of the International Union), for the purpose <br />of attending Union conventions or other Union activities which <br />necessitate a suspension of active employment.
