Operator, Con't. <br />shift and assists in the maintenance of shift operation reports. <br />_Assists other operators and maintenance personnel in switching <br />pumps, transferring sludge; charging chemical hoppers and <br />mixing chamber; cleaning and maintaining plant equipment and <br />facilities. <br /> Subject to 24-hour call during emergency situations. <br />?. <br />?w Performs related work as required. <br />? Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills <br />ow Some knowledge of the specific operations and service requirements <br /> of the major items of pump and treatment plant. <br /> Some knowledge of the fundamental processes involved in the <br /> pu.mping, treatment, and disposal of wastewater. <br />.. <br /> Ability to inspect operating mechanical and electrical equipment; <br /> to detect minor flaws and defects in its operation; and to <br />? effect appropriate remedial measures when necessary. <br />? Ability to read meters and charts accurately and to maintain <br /> routine records of shift operations. <br />? Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. <br /> Ability to make mathematical computations with speed and <br /> accuracy. <br />? Ability to perform moderately heavy manual work. <br /> Ability and willingness to use a variety of special safety <br />? devices; such as, inhalators, safety belts, special gloves, and <br /> related safety equipment. <br />+rr <br /> Mechanical aptitude and good general intelligence. <br />.?. <br /> Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships <br /> with employees and the general public. <br />? <br />Desirable Experience and Training <br />? <br /> Some experience in the operation and maintenance of inechanical <br /> and electrical equipment; graduation from a standard high school <br />+ir? or vocational school preferably supplemented by the completion <br /> of approved course work in wastewater treatment.
