AUGUST 18, 1959 - - PAGE 3 <br />Mr. Lou Wallner appeared again before Council relative to the release <br />of the two sidewalk bonds, which the Engineer had already reported as <br />satisfactory. The ditches were put in according to plans originally ap- <br />proved by Council and the Planning Commission at that time. The berm had <br />been repaired in compliance with the request of Committee, and he is re- <br />questing clarification of what the officials are asking them to do, pending <br />dedication of the first two subdivisions. <br />The Engineer is to investigate the situation and report back to Council. <br />Residents of Maplehurst, Westlawn and Oakdale areas appeared before Council <br />requesting information relative to the paving of Maplehurst and the con- <br />ditions existing on Westlawn and Oakdale. The Engineer advised the contract <br />had been let by the developer to Advance Paving Company and that construction <br />should be started this week, In the meantime, dust has been controlled by the <br />application of calcium chloride. In regards to the problem on Westlawn, the <br />Service Director will make an investigation. <br />Mr. Wilson reported Mr. Monson promised to fix the turn-around on Maxis <br />Lane and recommended Council request the Service Director to write a letter <br />telling him to fix it. <br />The Mayor stated that because of the many conditions that existed, new <br />laws were introduced and adopted to protect the residents and the City. <br />Mr. Melzer appeared in behalf of Mrs. Froelich in regards to conditions <br />which exist on Canterbury Road created by the Springvale Country Club by <br />the building of dams which result in aback-flow of water. The Engineer <br />had submitted his report and recommendations. Mr. MacDonald, Chairman <br />of_the Streets, Sewers, Ditches and Sidewalk Committee requested the <br />opportunity to familiarize himself with the situation, and then a meeting <br />will be scheduled prior to the next Council meeting, which will be conducted <br />as a public matter, on the 29th of August, at 8:00 A.M. <br />Mrs. Van Ardsdale, 5962 Canterbury Road, reported to Council that a shed <br />was moved by the Golf Course, which is used for storage, to street property. <br />This is to be investigated by Committee. <br />Mrs. Lynch reported 4 lights were installed on Lorain Road, 5 lights were <br />changed from 400 C.P. to 1,000 C.P., 1 light installed at Lorain Road <br />at East Park Drive, 1 at Brookpark and Martin Drive and also an order <br />was placed for lights on Coe Avenue. <br />Ordinance No. 2900 was introduced by Mr. Hixson. An ordinance accepting <br />for dedication for street purposes a tract of land acquired from Fannie H. <br />Upp, fronting on North Porter Road and extending westerly a distance of <br />283.55 feet westerly from the center line of East Park Drive and declaring <br />an emergency. It was moved by Mr. Hixson, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, that the <br />statutory rule be suspended and the ordinance be read immediately the second <br />and third times and put on its passage. The affirmative vote on said motion <br />was as follows: Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O~Neill, Wilson. There- <br />upon, the ordinance was read the second and third times and put upon its <br />passage and the affirmative vote thereon was as follows: Hixson, Kramer, <br />Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, ti~Tilson. <br />Ordinance No. 2865, fixing and determining salaries and bonds of elected <br />officials of the City of North Olmsted, was given its third and final <br />reading. It was moved by Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, the ordinance <br />be adopted as read. "Yeas" Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, <br />Wilson. <br />Ordinance No. 2901 was introduced by Mr. Hixson. An ordinance amending <br />Sections 1 and 2 of Ordinance No. 2621, enacted January 28, 1958, entitled, <br />"An ordinance providing for part-time secretary for and to assist the <br />Solicitor for the City of North Olmsted, and providing compensation therefor. <br />It was waved by Mr. Hixson, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, that the statutory rule <br />be suspended and the ordinance be read immediately the second and third <br />times and put on its passage.
