APRIL 7, 1959 - PAGE 4. <br />Ia regards to the construction of package plants, it was moved by <br />Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mrs. Hinkel, the matter be referred to the <br />Streets Committee Heating with Mr. Kuhn. "Yeas" Hinkel, Kramer, <br />Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. "Nay" Hixson. <br />Mr. Hixson reported relative to the communication from Coe P.T.A. <br />Committee met, and the two members present were in disagreement. <br />The letter was referred to the Solicitor for consideration. <br />Mr. Wilson reported the Finance Committee met with the Mayor, Auditor <br />and Service Director, and the following recommendations resulted: <br />1. To procure teletype service to be set up with the five surrounding <br />communities. <br />2. Meritorious awards for Police and Fire Department by resolution <br />be continued; that no monetary award be given; and the matter <br />turned back to the Safety Committee to devise the means of <br />recognition. <br />3. The ordinance increasing the salaries of the Council and Council <br />President should be passed not more than 90 days or leas than <br />60 days before the November election. <br />4. In regards to the Clague Road sewer, the money is not available; <br />however, the Service Director intends using street maintenance <br />funds to take care of this problem. <br />5. In regards to the Garden City drainage sewer on Plan "A", this <br />is not recommended at this time. <br />6. Street lights be installed with mercury lights; however, the <br />Service Director cams up with a new recommendation and the matter <br />was referred back to the Safety Committee. <br />7. The present jail does not measure up to the standards of the <br />general code and the Director is to get an estimate of costs <br />far additions to the Police Station. <br />8. The purchase of a new firs truck to be tabled until a later date. <br />The Service Director requested Council's approval to advertise for bids <br />for labor and material for the construction of the Clague Road sewer. <br />Resolution No. 2829 was introduced by Mr. MacDonald. A resolution <br />authorizing the Director of Public Service to advertise for bids for <br />the furnishing of labor and material for the installation of storm <br />on Clague Road at Clifford Road and declaring an emergency. It wan moved <br />by Mr. MacDonald, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, that the statutory rule be <br />suspended and the resolution be read immediately the second and third <br />times and put on its passage. The affirmative vote on said motion was <br />as follows: Hinkel, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. "Nay" <br />Hixson. Thereupon the resolution wan read the second and third times <br />and put on its passage and the affirmative vote thereon was as follows: <br />Hinkel, Kramer, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. "Nay" Hixson. <br />Mrs. Hinkel reported the Safety Committee recommended the matter of <br />venting the gas well on Lorain Road be disapproved by virtue of the <br />motion dated September 16, 1958 to plug wells. <br />Also, in regards to the Zoo, Committee made an inspection and found <br />no Safety hazard; however, committee is not approving or disapproving <br />the Zoo at this time. <br />Mr. MacDonald reported Mr. Kuhn will be here at the next Council meeting <br />with plans for Zones 1 and 2, and would like to meet at 7:00 P.M., before <br />Council on the 21st. <br />Ordinance No. 2819 was introduced by Mr. Kramer. An ordinance amending <br />Section 1 of Ordinance 2516, entitled, "An ordinance to determine vaca- <br />tion periods for officers and regular members of the Fire Department, <br />was given its second reading.
