<br />The Clerk read a communication from the Planning Commission whereby
<br />they recommend that plans are not to be filed, even for recording
<br />purposes only, until all improvements are in, or until a bond has been
<br />posted. Also, a builder must complete all improvements or must post a
<br />bond before applying for a building permit.
<br />Mr. T~iilson presented a petition signed by residents in the area of the
<br />zoo, opposing the zoo, and a letter from Larry Tetzlaff (Jungle Larry)
<br />requesting application for use permit. The petition is to be filed with
<br />the Zoning Board of Appeals.
<br />Petitions were presented for a sidewalk on Canterbury Road, from Lorain
<br />Road north to the City Line, on one side only, to be assessed on both.
<br />sides. Twenty-seven were in favor of the sidewalk being on the East
<br />Side of the street, and twenty-three in favor of the West Side. It was
<br />moved by Mr. Kramer, seconded by Mrs. Hinkel, the petition be referred
<br />to the Engineer for checking of signatures, "Yeas" FIinkel, r3ixson,
<br />Kramer, Lynch, O'Neill, L^Tilson,
<br />Mrs. Hinkel Chairman of the Safety Committee reported that Committee
<br />met last Monday for the rewriting of the Rules and Regulations for the
<br />Fire Department, and another meeting is scheduled for March 9th, at
<br />8:00 P.M.
<br />Mrs. Hinkel, also reported Committee recommended teletype service be
<br />acquired, and this was referred to the Finance Committee.
<br />In regards to awards for meritorious service, Committee discussed.
<br />awards in the form of a Roll of Honor or a plaque designating the
<br />service fulfilled, in the proper department, and date of the heroic
<br />deed, and the possibility also of a monetary award. This was also
<br />referred to the Finance Committee for further study.
<br />In regards to the Dcg ;Darden, warnings on dogs running at large are
<br />given verbally, and it was suggested forms be printed and given tc
<br />violators, and a seccnd notice be a Police summons. Also, five gallons
<br />of gasoline permitted per week is insufficient, and arrangements are
<br />to be made for additional gasoline to offset the mileage.
<br />Resolution No. 2817 was introduced by Mr. Wilson. A resolution in
<br />memory of Carl F. Haettich, beloved husband of Agatha Haettich and
<br />father of George Haettich a.nd Arthur Haettich, Safety Director of the
<br />City of North Olmsted, who passed away February 20, 1959. It was
<br />moved by Mr. jv'ilson, seconded by Mr. O'Neill, the resolution be adopted
<br />as read. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, O'Neill, t~lilson.
<br />Mrs. Lynch, Chairman of the Utilities Committee reported street lights
<br />are needed on the northern end of Canterbury Road, Brookpark Extension,
<br />Park Lane, and at Martin and Brookpark Extension, between Martin and
<br />West Park Drive. This request was turned over to the Finance Committee
<br />for study and consideration.
<br />Mr. Hixson reported in the absence of Mr. MacDonald relative to the
<br />sewer Committee meeting, that all three divisions should be ready for
<br />the Director to present to Council for approval around April 1st,
<br />A meeting of the Sewer Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, Niarch 10th,
<br />at 7:30 P.M.
<br />Mr. O'Neill reported for the Youth Committee. A news release will
<br />appear in the Fairview Herald, which will be followed up with. three
<br />subsequent issues regarding the Mayor's aeclaration of the month of
<br />March as "Youth Movement Month". The activities are too numerous to
<br />mention. The main purpose is to encourage the young people of North
<br />Olmsted to participate in one or more of the programs and keep juvenile
<br />delinquency to a minimum.
<br />Ordinance No. 2807, an ordinance regulating repair or demoliticn of
<br />buildings declared unsafe by the Building Department of the City of
<br />North Olmsted was given its third and final reading. It was moved
