<br />The Mayor reported he had received a letter frog the developer of West
<br />230th, 232nd, asd Mi]~rcd Avenue, requesting a meeting on Saturday
<br />Morning, August 9th. Hs requested the Committees of Council be present
<br />at that time (Plata and Stresta) and the Engineer at 8:30 or 9:00 A. M.
<br />The Mayor read a eommnnieation with regards to the U. S. A. Youth Month,
<br />their Honor Roll and Enrollaent, and appointed a Coaaittee of Council
<br />to exploit the possibilities. App®iated were Mr. O'Neill, Mrs. Lynch,
<br />and Mr. Wilson, and asked their cooperation with the Reereatioa Comaission.
<br />The Safety Director congratulated Mr. Barnes for his cooperation with the
<br />Safety Dspartaent by putting out a fire which was burning twenty-four
<br />hours and saoking out people in the Georgette area.
<br />The Safety Director reported activities of the Fire Department and the
<br />Police Department for the aonth of July.
<br />The Safety Director requested the Solicitor prepare a resolution for a
<br />Police Lieutenant. He would like the Finance Committee to determine
<br />if funds are available for a Fire Lieutenant (the position has already
<br />been created), and eventually get to the Assistant Chief. He also
<br />reported he had received an estimate for the shell of the jail as part
<br />of the Police Department Building, in the amount of ~3,OOO.00, which does
<br />not include plumbing, etc., and funds are not available for this project
<br />this year.
<br />Mr. O'Neill again requested a report of truck arrests for the next meeting.
<br />The Mayor reported he had received a good tentative estimate for costs
<br />of Lorain Road. The City of North Olmsted's share would be $71,669.00,
<br />including utilities in the aaount of #5,185.00. He will meet again
<br />August 7th with the County Commissioners. (Of which 5086 after deduction of
<br />utilities, would make it approximately X33,000 for N.O. and County or $38,~2~.
<br />The Engineer stated his report for West 231st, 23oth, 232nd, and Mildred
<br />Avenue, Eleanor and Evelyn Drives, is filed with the Service Director.
<br />He also stated he had received a request from Jos Hoialbauer to put in
<br />a concrete road, approximately 400 ft. frog Butternut Ridge Road immediately,
<br />instead of aacadam as called for on the plat, sad 200 ft. in Pront of the
<br />already existing hones. He will, if given permission to do this immediately,
<br />put the balance of the road in with concrete.
<br />The Building Commissioner reported 5$ peraits for the aonth of July,
<br />with an estimated valuation of $729,?63.00.
<br />Mr. Hixson reported the Plats Comaittee ast and recommended that the
<br />Solicitor be instructed to draw up necessary legislation to include
<br />sanitary sewers in new developments.
<br />It was moved by Mr. Hixson, seconded by Mr. MacDonald, the Solicitor
<br />prepare necessary legislation to include sanitary sewers along with other
<br />utilities in new developments. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Lynch, MacDonald,
<br />O'Neill, Wilson.
<br />Ordinance No. 2731 was introduced by Mr. lrlilhoa. An Ordinance to provide
<br />for the submission to the Electors of the City of forth Olmsted, Ohio, of
<br />~~~` the Question "Shall a Commission be chosen to frame a Charter?", and for
<br />the election of the members of the Commission. It was coved by Mr. Wilson,
<br />seconded by Mr. Hixson, that the ordinance be adopted as read. "Yeas"
<br />Hinkel, Hixson, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson.
<br />Ordinance No. 2732 was introduced by Mr. MacDonald. An Ordinance authori-
<br />zing the settlement of claim made by Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company
<br />and T. E. Nicholson for damages from accident on Grace Avenue on or about
<br />April 18, 1958, and declaring an emergency. It was moved by Mr. MacDonald,
<br />seconded by Mr. O'Neill, that the statutory rule bs suspended and the
<br />ordinance be read immediately the second and third times and put oa its
<br />passage. The affirmative vote thereon was as follows: Hinkel, Hixson,
<br />Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson. Thereupon, the ordinance was read the
<br />second and third times and put on its passage and the affirmative vote
<br />thereon was as follows: Hinkel, Hixson, Lynch, MacDonald, O'Neill, Wilson.
