APRIL 15, 1958 - PAGE 2
Mr. Dean read a letter from Floyd Browne with regard to the Shopping
Center sewer which is to be used in connection with our sewerage program.
The plan calls for an 18" sewer which is considerably smaller than that shown
on the report. It will be used as a trunk for the City sewer.
Mr. Hazelton stated that it was his understanding that the trunk originally
planned for the shopping center would be inadequate and that an agreement
was reached whereby the developer would increase to the correct size. The 18"
is smaller than the one recommended in the Broome report which was a 30".
Mr. Dean advised that the Floyd Browne letter assured him that the sewer
would be satisfactory in connection with our plan.
Mr. Dean then requested Council to advise him as to the quantity of the zoning
maps desired. Mayor Gareau suggested that we do not have as marry made as
the last time in order to allow for continuous changes. Mr. Dean then ex-
plained that the main cost is the original plate and as the zoning does
not actually appear, the map can very easily be changed. The previous
zoning map was not prepared in this manner and the zoning actually appeared
on the plate. It was then decided by Council that Mr. Dean would obtain prices
on lots of 500 and 1000 and furnish prices to Council the following week.
Mayor Gareau then presented the following communications:
1. Ltr. from Floyde Browne & Associates requesting a meeting
with the Mayor & Council
2. Ltr. from Mrs. Florence M. Chambers wherein she requests an
enclosure at Butternut Cemetery. This communication was referred
to the Service Director and he will confer with Mr. Hixson
3. Ltr. from Aetna Casualty & Surety with regard to bond premimum
on W. 230th, W. 232nd and Mildred -turned over to Council
!~. The Zoning Board presented a letter to Mayor Ga,reau to be
presented to Council with regard to the liquor permit requested
by Kaserman~s, 23900 Lorain Road, Evidentally, the permit
would be in violation of Article 8, Section 7 and Article
7, par. ate". Inasmuch as there is some doubt as to the en-
forceability of these particular sections, the letter was
turned over to the Safety Committee.
The Mayor then advised Council that he had received. notification from the
State of Ohio indicating that J.M. Fields Co. had been d envied right of
sewerage into the Brookpark Road Extension. The Mayor advised that a repre-
sentative of J. M. Fields Co. will be at City Hall at 10:00 Saturday
morning for a consultation and he requested that Council attend the meeting,
in order to determine their intentions.
Mr. OtNeill, Transportation Committee, advised that there had been a
Negotiation Meeting on April 2nd at the request of C. Schmidt, Chairman
of the Bus Employees. The minutes of this meeting were then read.
Mr. ~Iiiikel, Safety Committee, presented the list of proposed fees for
permits and inspections for the Building Department. He also requested
the Safety Director to strict enforce the 35 mile speed limit. It was sug-
gested by Mr. Hinkel that consideration be given to the hiring of a part-time
plumbing inspector whose salary could be offset by the increase in fees.
It was moved, by Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mrs. Lynch, that a police car be pur-
chased rather than rented. "Yeas" Hinkel, Hixson, Kramer, Lynch, ~1acDonald,
O~Neill, Wilson.
Mr. MacDonald requested Mr. Haettich~s opinion as to whether or not it would
be more advisable to purchase a stationwagon rather than a conventional sedan.
Mr. Haettich stated that it would definitely be more advisable to purchase a
stationwagon as there is only one ambulance in operation at the present time
and a stationwagon could be used in that capacity for emergency purposes.
