Amendment af ordfnance on motor vehieles disturbing the peace< Two members af <br />the committee feel we have sufficient legislation now, as does the Law Director. <br />Therefore the committee does not recommend any changes, <br />3. Committee also approved a rough draft of an ordinance approving moving of build- <br />ings in North Olmsted, a copy of which was furnished ta each Councilman. Legislation <br />is prepared for tonight. <br />4. Conflict nf interest uras discussed further, but is not yet resolved. <br />5. The Committee recommends legislation for compulsory retirement for members of <br />the police and firemen; excluding school guards, They request a clause protecting <br />members who at the age of 65 would not have completed twenty-five years of service, <br />providing that such men caould be permitted to continue workang provided they pass <br />an annual physical examination, <br />Mr, Leonard, Chairman of the joint committee on the proposed new Swimming Panl, <br />reported he attended the School Board meeting on September 13th, since there <br />were items of handling Council needed an explanation on. It was decided to pull <br />out No. 5 in their resolution of August 23rd, As to the words "this agreement" <br />in No. 6, it was their feeling this would mean a written agreement between the <br />three parties involved, Discussion of the questions involved ensued, but Council <br />took no further action on the matter, <br />Mr, West, Chafrman of the Finance Committee reported on their meeting of September <br />16th at which also present were Dewey Limpert, Mayor Christman, Finance Director <br />Gerlach, Safety-Service Director Limpert and Councilman Leonard, <br />They recommend that legislation be drawn changing the maximum number of school <br />guards 'to twelve, <br />They approved the financing of the Dover Lift Statfon in the amount of $123,000. <br />They recommend that legislation be drawn making a pay rate of $3.00 per hour for <br />firemen working as blasting inspectnrs< <br />They approved the sum of $2,000 for the city's portion of storm sewers on Southern. <br />They recommend pay raises for the bus drivers to $2,70 per hour effective October <br />lst, and an increase for the equipment service men from $2e25 to $2.50 per hour, <br />and will ask that legislation be prepared. <br />They recommend new pay scales for building inspectors effective November lst. <br />They approved renewal of the $67,000 note for 1964 sidewalks which is due October <br />27, 1965, <br />They also discussed, but took no action on the following: storm sewer for Decker, <br />Porter and Burns; police and firemen's salaries; traffic light installation at <br />Lorain and Canterbury. <br />
