In keeping.with..the.recommendation.of.the Safety-Service Director that.Dover, Barton and BradYey.be.Yimited.to 6-ton truck limit, they recommend this, except where trucks are making a delivery on the street. The Cormnittee has reviewed_the_blasti$g..ordinance_which_is on second reading, and asked the engineer to see what other data is available in handbook formo Mr. West, Chairman of the Finance Committee, reported on their meeting of July lst which was attended by memberg of.the administration and other councilmen. The income tax.appears to be lower than.the estimate made two years ago, and the report listing the taxpayers.who have filed returns and paid taxes will not be available until September._ The Conimittee agreed.to authorize the borrow- ing of $100,000, to carry the_City over, in view of the lack of local government funds which are being held up by filing of a:-ourt.action„ The Committee will ask for legislation authorizing.the Mayar to hire fiscal agents to appraise property the City would like to use for recreation. The.Finance Committee.will ask for Iegislation.setting,forth.the Council's opposi- tion_to the Muskie bill now_before.Congress,.which.would chauge_the tax-exempt status of municipal bonds.LegislatiQn is a1sU to be requested setting up a$50 cash fund for the Detective Bureau.
