We asked <br />City Enguneer Dutton about status of proposed blasteng ordwnancee Mr. <br />Dutton said st is about ready to send et to the Law Darector. <br />Mro West, Chaorman Finance Commattee9 saed his commottee had met Febcuary <br />5th with the Publec Servece and UtAlitees Commatteee They approved the <br />City portion of resurfacAng of Columbia Road, south otr Loraan Avenue< <br />Mr. Prokasy9 Chairman of Desegn E Platting and Public: Parks9 Property and <br />Recreataon Committees9 mentAOned that Design & Platting Committee had met <br />on January 23rd and 3Otha The committee recommends that proposed rezoning <br />for Saks and Goldberg be rejected because it is not best use of land as <br />proposed9 and also makes proper development of adjacent land dafficult. <br />On Jamestown rezoning, the committee favors rezoning of area bounded by <br />Brookpart, Columbia, Elm and Grace Roads9 from residential to multmmfamAly. <br />There are to be two accesses onto Columbia Road and developers are to widen <br />Columbia Road 12' to provide a left-turn storage land. Legaslation will be <br />requested. The Commettee also recommends that Zoning Code be changed to <br />requsre two parkeng spaces (50% gacaged) for each apartment suite, and re- <br />quests that a letter be darected to Planning Commission and Regaonal Planning <br />for their recommendations en this regard. The latest Jamestown Proposal <br />provides almost two spaces per unit because the developers recognoze this <br />need. Mre Caster mentioned he had been unable to attend this meeting about <br />Jamestown accesses, and would like the SafetymService D°orector to take a good <br />look at this from a safety angle, especially on Elm Road. Mr. Prokasy said <br />Messrs. Dutton9 Limperte West and developers had discussed this at length. <br />The Clerk of Council read a petition from residents on Virgonoa Avenue who <br />are opposed to proposed sidewalk installation at this timey feelang ix would <br />be more logACal to wait until storm sewers are installed. <br />Mr. 0°Neill mentsoned receiving a letter from Mr. Ptak, 446 Yearl°sng Drive, <br />Berea, who had hit a large hole in pavement on Columbua Road, on January 29th, <br />and consequently incurred quite an expense to his car. He feels the City <br />should reimburse him for damageso Thas matter wa5 referred to the Law Director. <br />Mr. Saks, of Saks & 6oldberg, requested opportunity to speak to Council about <br />rezoneng between Brenden Lane and Clague Road from residentoal to rnulti-family. <br />He saad he has been working wath the Planning Commissaan, Mr. PrOkasy and the <br />Engineer, and has made a number of expensive changes hopang to correct layout <br />to meet wath their approvalo Mr. Saks wonders what they can now do to correct <br />any defaceencmes. There is one psece of land whsch is not uncluded an this <br />proposal. He questioned if this parcel was °sncluded would it be the answer. <br />Mr. Caster felt quite likely this would be the answer, <br />Mrs. Lois Dunbary 5308 Hamptony representing the Mothers' Group working on <br />Air Pollutaon9 asked Council what has been done on their request. The Mayor <br />commented that he has been tslking to the East Ohio Gas Company about their <br />standards for incinerators, etc., and as yet is not ready to recommend with- <br />drawal of this ordinance, or the one on burning of leaves, at least until we <br />can do somethang about problem of collection of leaves. <br />
