The original plan to
raise only the cost of passes did not, when studied, provide sufficient
additional money to purchase new buses and still provide for increases
for the drivers and mechanics. The new rate schedule will be submitted
to Council for study. It would be for a five cent increase on regular
fares, in addition to an increase for passes, and is planned to be
effective July lst.
Mr. Eian, Chairman of the Safety, Health and Welf.are Committee, reported
they still have the parking problem around St. Brendan's church in com-
mittee for study, with various solutions being proposed. They have studied
a traffic control map, as submitted by the Safety-Service Director, which
includes a map of the control devices and their locations. They will request
legislation to adopt the map.
After studying the extension of the left turn and storage lanes on Lorain,
the Committee recoIInnends an extension from Dover Road west to McKenzie.
A possible extension from Dover Road east to Ranchview or Bailey is still
under discussion.
In the abeence of Mr. West, Mr. Limpert reported on the Finance Committee
meeting. They decided to ask for legislation authorizing taking bids for
three new police cars; decided to ask for legislation authorizing taking
bids for installing approximately 1700 feet of 66" culvert pipe in Sands
Subdivision, for a maximum cost of $11,000; decided on the installation of
street lights 9 as follows, subject to recommendations of lighting experts,
3 on Bradley, 4 on Evergreen, 3 on Christman and brighter lights at Gessner
and Lorain and Walter and Lorain. They also approved repaving Burns and
Porter south of Midvale at a cost of approximately $8,150.
The Clerk read a letter received from the Lawson Milk Company commending
our police on their work in picking up the Lawson burglars.
Mrs. Thomas Reitz, 5398 Columbia, asked what the legal procedure on the
initiative petitions filed with the City would be after the signatures
were verified, and whether the petition would affect Mr. DiBenedetto's
application for building permit. The Law Director advised that Council
has forty days in which to verify the signatures and take action. He also
stated the petition would have no effect on Mr. DiBenedetto's application.
Mr. Frank Pinkham, 6595 Barton Road, referred to a petition presented to
Council from Bretton Ridge Home Owners, asking that the interchange for
I-80 be moved to Barton and Bradley Roads. He stated his reasons for
believing the route over Barton would not serve as well as the Stearns
Road route, and questioned Council's proposed action in asking the County
to consider Barton.

a.?a?,.:. . .. _ .. ... . . .. . ... .. .. . ... . . ... .. . . .... :s,'?.*??6?.._ :.. .. . .. ... . ..w'.,w.., ,,?wo?s.?.?.., m?? ?, x?.;H sat?.W-?d. ? .. -Ma., ea?a='+?E
