<br />The Safety, Health & Welfare Committee is recommending that the Fire De-
<br />partment's Organizational Chart be amended to include three Captains which
<br />are necessary for good administratian practices in this Depart.ment, fihey
<br />suggest reducing number ot firemen from 25 t0 22, and making three Firemen
<br />Captains, In Lhe present iEgislation which is being acted upon Lonight,
<br />Ordinanee No. 69-57, Section 2, would require salary revision also for
<br />the Captain rank The Committee suggests to the Finance Committee that
<br />the range would be between that of Chief and Fire Lieutenant's salaries,
<br />Mrso Hodgins and Mr Miller withdrew mation and second that they made to
<br />amend Ordinance No- 69-5i, since Law Director Kitchen ruled that ihis
<br />recommendation shauld tirst go to Finance Committee. Mr, Eian then recom-
<br />mended that Safety Commiteee`s suggestions be given to Finance Committee
<br />for further study
<br />The Safety, Hea1th & Weltare Commitcee has also recommended that Council
<br />authorize two demolitions which the Building Commissioner advises need
<br />to be carried out: PermanEnr Parcel 232-12-6 and 9, on Dover Road. Mr.Lim-
<br />pert movedtaproceed with demolition authorrization, seconded by Mrs, Hodgins.

<br />Permanent Pareels Nos 232-73-4 and 45 (Mastic Road Stables). Mr. Miller
<br />moved ta prcceed wxth demolitlon authorization, seconded by Mr, Gastex.

<br />Mr, Eian highly praised che work which has been done by the North Olmsted
<br />Police DeteciivE Bureau in their undercover work leading to arrest of per-
<br />sons involved in a drug ring. Ihese men have given much of their personal
<br />time in their diligent work, and the City and this Committee owe them great
<br />appreciation- Mx.. Caster made a matlon of commendation to this effect,
<br />seconded by Mr, Limpert- "Yeas" Caster, Eian, Hodgins, Limpert, Miller4
<br />Mr, Eian also mentioned thaL the Sdfety, Health & Welfare Committee is
<br />working with the Police Chief conierning additional room in the Police
<br />Department, which zs nezessary since there is much additional equipment.
<br />The Committee recognizes this need and is in agreement that someching must
<br />be doneo In chis connectian, the Committee will go over the present Police
<br />Department facilities the evenzng of Apri1 2nd, Other Council members are
<br />urged to join this CommiLtee tomorrow eveninga
<br />The Safety, Healrh & Welfare Commitree alsa reviewed the petition presented
<br />to Council on "ban on all parking and standing at a11 times on Lorain Road."

<br />Chief Hird stated r.hat present procedure facilitates the traffic flaw, and
<br />most of the merchants have off screet parking. After a thorough discussion
<br />the Committee agreed Lhat there is mueh ta be gained by present set-up, and
<br />they recommend rhat pxeserix ruling be retained.
<br />Mr. G'asLer, membet of UESign &PYatting Committee, said this commit.ree goes
<br />along with the repcrt of the Planning Commission of March 25th that a 30-day
<br />extension be granted co Zaremba Apartment Rezoning proposal because of a
<br />traffic survey that is being made- Mr, Caster then moved that extension be
<br />granted, seconded by Mr. Limper.c- "Yeas" Caster, Eian, Hodgins, Limpert,
