Council Minutes of 12-1-70 -2- <br />Mra. Hodgins, Chaissan of Public Safetp, Haalth & We].fare Committee <br />4D and Recreation, Public Parks & Buildiag Coewittee repcrted the <br />follawing: 1) the Rscreatioa, Public Parks & Buiiding Cammittee dis- <br />cussed the purchase of the 3eatlest Building. The Comi.ttse is in <br />favor af the purchase of same if financl.ng can be arranged; 2} The <br />Puhlic Safety, HeaiCh & Welfare Committee wi.ll meet Monday, December <br />7, 1970, at 9:00 p.m. Safety Dircctor, Police Chief aad Service Director <br />are requested to attend. <br />Mr. Grady, Chairman Intro Governmental Relations & Legielation Ccnmmittee, <br />reported this Committee had a meeting but wexe unable to reach any <br />conclusians on the several topics under discussion. More research has <br />to be doae. <br />? Mr. West, Chairman Building, Zoning & Development Comsi.ttee amd Transpor- <br />tation Committee reported the following: 1) meeting of t'he Buildiag, <br />Zoning & Develapment Conanittee with 12 residents interested in the Embassq <br />rezoning proposal oa Novembsr 21, 1970. At the time there was an uuanswerE:d <br />question of drainage and whether, in fact, developer had pesmfssion ta go <br />across the Park Board prQperty for the drain. Committee decided to hold <br />up any further action uatil this wae resolved. In the interim received <br />revised plans which had been submi.tted to the Engineering Department. Said <br />plans ahaw that the drainage does not go an Park Board propertq and ia a <br />suitable plaa according to the Engiueeri.ng Uepartment. Tt?erefore, Committee <br />will request this pieee of legislation come up for third reading and vote <br />at next Couacil ueeting, on December 15, 1970. Mr. Weat dixect.ed C1erk to <br />notifq people who had requested notification be given as to dete of vote. <br />2) Reviewed propoaed revised C.E.I. plaus which locates the h3gh tension <br />wires along new :<.ute 252 right-of-way. Legislatian is an secvnd resding <br />tonight; from this a motian wi11 be made at that time to resubeit same to <br />Flanning Comnission for their review, in accordance with procadure. <br />3) Committee recamends and will request legislation tonigbt to accept <br />a 50 ±;.. right-of-waq on North Park Drive for dedication to complete the <br />right-of-way on North Park Drive. <br />4) Transportation Committee met on NovEi,er 23, 1970,and revievaed mo;t <br />up to date information on f3nances of tha Bus Dapartmeat. As rzporr,_?,? <br />in previous meeting Bis Depsrtment has bEe-a running with a gre:.cc,. <br />this year than the no-L-inal picked up in Suumier because of the purchas.: oi <br />two mini buses, Also commented on the approval of the local coordinating <br />agencies regarding request ior federal grant, and the need to have the <br />money to pay for the twelve new buses which are needed. Ou this hesis, <br />the Committee wfll reconmend in the future a raise in bus fare. Have <br />not worked out a11 of the details as to what this raise will amount to, <br />but hope to have reconimendation to Council at next meeting. <br />LETTERS, COMMUNICATIt3N5: <br />President 0'Neill anIlALL':1Cpd that Mrs. Hodgins had made a statement to the <br />people in area adjaceiit to ct.e K Mart proposal that their letters would <br />be read in entiretq tonight. As a matter of expedfency sad inamuch as <br />all of Council received copy of all of the lettera submitted, President <br />0'Nei11 stated onlq the names will be read. Follawing is list of people <br />who submitted letters oppasing the praposed R Mart:
