Council Minutes of 11-17-70 -b- <br />4D Mr. Cutler stated he is as concerned as anyone else in keepiag the City <br />looking nice - it is the onlq way to do business; what was wanted was <br />to propose new legislation which would accumplish the objeetive the City <br />is seeking and, also, to allow the businessmen to exisC in a decent business <br />clime. <br />Mr. West stated the fact that eaforcommC of the ordinaace canaot be stopped <br />does nat mrean Mr. Cutler camat gropose Co C.ouneil changes in tha ordiaaace. <br />Council wi11 receive, revieW and atudy saw as the prosperitp of the City <br />depends on everyone. <br />Mr. Wffi. Neale, 5350 Aampton Drive, stated he protests the Public Works <br />Department's use of seyrer gss jets to clean aut sewers. Said his hcrme was <br />polluted and his wife became ill. Also, hsffi heard the same thing occurred <br />in another area. <br />Mr. Caster etated his Department has been going through a sanitarq sewer <br />aad, in saae casee, a storm sewer clasaning but this is strictly in gubiic <br />right Qf ways. The anly time private propertq 3s encro$ched ugon is at the <br />reQueat of prapertq awtser, aad w2iere there is a poseiblity that the prablem <br />may hsve arisen through coustructioa of sanitarq sewers in the area. Also, <br />his forcea do not go inta pri.vste property and jet out howee conneetians. <br />Further, he does not believe these actions have affected anq home ia any <br />area. <br />President 0'Neill questioned if the jetting would have an effect where it <br />would actually back up as Mr. Neale had alleged. Mr. Caster auswered no. <br />Mr. Limpert comented that he underatoo+d the traps in homes are there to <br />prevent thia from happening. Discussian continued. <br />Mr. Caeter stated that unless there is a bad mechaaical installatican in <br />8ny persoci's house - a11 of these lines are open to atmosphexe. The house <br />conaecticnts hsve a vent to atmosphere. The air or pressures are naturally <br />going to take the easy w:y out and that is thraugh the roaf vent rather than <br />blcyw thraugh traps. The lines in the atreeCs go from manhale to manho1e, an <br />average of 300 ft. - these are open to ataaosphere. He woul.d not say thern <br />is not a possib113ty that this could nat happen if there fs a bad mechsnical <br />hook-up within the house or sny building. Mr. Caster said he wauld appreciate <br />any inst.ar?ce where there is the slightest ctoubt that his forces ars causing <br />aziy aituatioa like thts be brought to his attent3on immedi.atelq and ssme wi11 <br />receive immediate attention. <br />Mr. Grady auggested that perhaps it should be considered to give notice to <br />an area vthea sewers are to be cleaned. It was decided that saae will be <br />given further cansideration. <br />Mr.?eale, 5350 Aampton Dx., then gave his ressons for abjecting to the <br />Ste s Road extension. <br />Mr. C. Stelzer, 3405 Tree Lane, stated he was representing 300 peagle <br />from his surrowading area, and is protesting the rezoniag af land fram <br />residential to connnercial preas+ently under option of K Msrt Store. He then <br />cited their objections.
