Public Hearing Minutes of 10-19-70
Page -9-
In answer to a question will it decrease water pressure, Mr. Karhan said there
would definitely be a decrease in the pressure.
The question was asked if the developers have a plan for this.
Mr. Moss said he was not aware until now that people have a problem on Wellesley.
He understands there is no loop system in Wellesly. He understands that this
project is going to be looped and this has a great deal to do with water pressure.
Mr. Timothy asked if there was any reason why you cannot put two entrances to
apartments on Lorain Rd.? Questioned how wide the egress is now and if it
could be widened sufficiently to have ample room to get in - would it be necessary
to have a temporary one on Wellesley.
Mr. Packer said primary reason for having outlet to Lorain is that this is main
outlet. We do not have a source for a second outlet.
Mayor Christman said he thinks it is conceivable that the front entrance which
is 100 ft. wide could be blocked and no other means of getting to the project.
Mr. Timothy said if there is a fire in his neighborhood it is questionable
if the Police and Fire Departments can get down there before the public.
Instead of using Wellesley another way should be found because they are not
goint to get around those narrow streets especially if they are putting in
laterals to one of the houses and they leave their equipment on the street.
Mr. Conley asked how hard developers tried to purchase more land on Lorain Rd.
Mr. Moss said even if he had additional length of Lorain Rd. according to Police
& Fire Departments they still want an alternate access.
Mr. Conley, feels there is nothing that states two entrances have to be on
different streets - only two entrances. Discussed purchasing of 45 ft. on
Lorain to satisfy Fire Department without abusing people who live on Wellesley.
Mr. West stated the gentleman is right in that what we require are two entrances.
We have many places where they are on Lorain Road, and studying drawing it seems
as though there is property that developer owns that might be used until Stearns
Rd. gets in, that could be used as two entrances. He thinks this is something
that the developers ought to take a hard look at before Council comes to vote on
it.
Mr. West questioned property on map and asked developers who owned same. He
stated he agrees with these people and also with the Fire Department. We need
an alternate but this street - Wellesl.ey - is difficult, and saying that this
is an emergency access or entrance is a little far fetched. Mr. West stated
that.he is making a definite request that the developers take a look at this
and see what can be done. Mr. West indicated on Vlan section he is referring to.
Also couunented if someone is thinking about building a gas station - suggested
talking him out of it and build a road or something like that.
Mrs. Uhas, Wellesley, commented Horizons West and Hardwick House has only one
entrance. Mr. Prokasy explained that Horizons West has one entrance off of
Brookpark. What is termed Great NortherhBlvd. is between Lorain & Brookpark.
This will be extended and that which appears to be a drive coming off Brookpark
into Horizons West is in reality not a private drive in there. It is part of
