Council Minutes of 9-5-72 <br />-4- <br />Clague Road. President O'Neill further stated he has confidence in the <br />integrity and intelligence of Council and they will defeat the proposal. Copy <br />of letter attached to official minutes. <br />Clerk read letter from PresiciMnt O'Neill to Members of Council regarding the <br />widening of Butternut Ridge Rand suggested by the County Engineer's Office. <br />It is President O'Neill's opinion that this would serve no useful purpose and <br />would actually create a serious safety problem for the youth of our commua-ity. <br />He feels the safety factor al~g is reason enough to reject this proposal and <br />President .O'Neill urged Cocuscll to disregard the County Bnginear's re ds- <br />tions and vote against this issue. Copy of letter attached to official minutes. <br />People Addressing Council: <br />Mr. Bernard Schulz, 25655 Butternut Ridge Road, presented to the Clerk petitions <br />signed by 357 concerned residents; also eight pages of petitions sued by <br />children in connection with the widening of Butternut Ridge Road. Residents <br />petition Council to refuse to enact a Consent Ordinance for the County to improve <br />and widen Butternut Ridge Road to foux lanes because it will ruin homes, diraish <br />property values, endanger childrens' lives and increase traffic through a <br />resiriential neighborhood to a level of a major thoroughfare. Other reasons also <br />stated in petition. Mr. Schulz s meted the Southeast Area Growth Assaciatidn <br />is offering their help to Council regarding this matter. Mr. Lic~rt thanked <br />Mr. Schulz. <br />Mr. Frank Rush, 5072 Porter Rd., asked if anything had been done regarding his <br />letter previously written. Mr. Limpert stated he could not speak for President <br />O'Neill and sugges bed Mx. Rush contact President O'Neill. <br />Mr. Clifford Crabbs, Butternut Ridge Rd., commented he is against the Butternut <br />Ridge proposal for reasons outlined in petition. Sugd{asted study should be <br />given by City Engineer and NASA Engineers specsficially and suggestions made to <br />NASA that they try to do everything theq can to make 14~ more accessible <br />from the front gate at NASA. He feels that if the right kind of an access is <br />given to the NASA employees at the front $ate they will use 14$0 and the <br />question of Butternut Ridge will not be necessary. <br />Mr. James Cleary, 4645 Willismstoen Drive, President of Pine Ridge Subdivision, <br />stated the residents of Pine Ridge were very disappointed not only of the results <br />of the Gold Circle buffer zone but in the per in which it was handled. Feels <br />little cooperation was given to residents of Pine Ridge and stated his reasons. <br />Mr. Cleary discussed proposal residents would have 3.iked to have in the buffer <br />zone. Mr. Cleary presented a resume of what transpired at the meetinge on <br />July 6th, August 7th, and August 21st, with the Building, Zoning & Development <br />Committee and Pine Ridge residents. Mr. Cleary requested that the motion <br />approving the buffer zone of Gold Circle be disapproved. Lengthy disetu~on_ <br />ensued between Mr. Limpert, Mr. Cleaxy and Mr. Glasser regarding the buffer <br />zone. Mr. Cleary does not feel a five foot high fence on top of a mcxu~d meets <br />requirements for site, light or security. Type of shrubbery was also discussed. <br />Mr. 3. Smith, 26925 Leenders Lane, spoke against the buffer zone and said the <br />top of the mound will be 2 and 1/2 ft. above the top of his patio. Discussed <br />the height of the fence and stated the fence was to have slats in it. <br />Mr. Boehmer, Member of the Building, Zoning & Development Committee, discussed <br />the buffer zone plans and feels this is the best plan that has ever been offered. <br />
