Lampert stated he would like to comment regarding lbs. Saringer'$ report
with Ohio Bell. Would lilts to add that there are mined feelings reegarding this
legislation within the Committee but basically are leaning to!~ard the sew thing.
Thinks what the Committee is striving for is to iwpress the P.U.C.O, to take
a good close look at this reQue~st and in their opinion sae whether it is valid
or not. Does not think the CosB+ittse is in a position to decide this asul this
is what the difference of opinion was in Coffimittee Meeting. Will ~ along with
Mrs. Saringer and her report based oa this.
Mr. West stated he also attended the meeting and thinks the thing we have to
be real careful about is that oea are not recommending the businesses to do one
thing and watch Governtaent do something else; and cited exes~les. Feels inflation
1s bad, etc. We probably wi11 have to ask for an increase in our safety forces.
Questioned why Ohio Bell is boring singled out - wonders how we can say we need
it but no one else does - that is position he finds himself in.
t-ir. Goggin stated he shames in Mrs. Saringer's feeling about going on retard to
attempt to have Ohio Belt and other companies try and hold the line. Aa a
Member of her Comm~.ttee and also a Messer of the Legislation Coa~ittee referred
to request of Legislation Ccrssaittee for legislation to the Mayor`s Association
that they look very c~.osely at any utility rate request sad act as a group and
come back and reconmetrd to each of their cities for approgriate action. Wonders
if we are not duplicating our efforts with two pieces of legislation.
Mrs. Saringer does not feel there is duplication; and the legislation being
requested is to seC up a Committee and who knows if and when the Mayor's Assn.
wi11 form this Committee - in the meantime, Res. 74-129 wa~.d be voted upon and
sent to P.U.C.O.
Mr. Gieaser requested Res. loo. 74-157 be referred back to Coamulttee as the way
it is presently written does not reflect the wishes of Coaenittere and explained
reasons.
President O'Neill referred Res. No. 74-157 back to Committee.
Mr. West asked Safety Director Carnahan status of C.E.I. moving pole. Mr.
Carnahan said he was promised it would be xemaved the first of the week but
with the snow conditions does not expect same until the middle of the week.
President O'Neill inquired how we stand relative to the timetable on revised
txaffic flow for Shopping Center. Safety Director Carnahan stated is working
feverlshlq on this - there are four inter-connections That are oat working
at the present tiara. Have msde arrangements for the two organizations to meet
us this week and get this straightened out.
Mr. West aksed Service Director Caster status of final application for btises.
Mr. Caster said the grant is pending approval - have heard moiling.
