Council Minutes of 2-18-75
-5-
optimum development or lose concept therefor. Does not think at this time we
should expend funds for a private architect. Reels we have paid RE$ional Planning
Commission a large sum and they have some responsibility to this community. Mr.
Gareau commented he had occasion to speak to Mr. Svoboda of Regional and it was
indicated to Mr. Garesu if they are going to do any more work with respect to
review they want a new contract. Discusa~on continued. Mr. Wilamogky and Mr. West
think it should be investigated as to how much it will cost the City.
Mr. West, Chairman Transportation Come~ittee, reported Committee met an February 13,
1975, and reviewed following: 1) request for five new police vehicles to replace
vehicles with 100,000 miles. Committee recommends and will request legislation
to authorize bidding;
2) met with Bus Drivers and Service Z~loyees representatives to discuss salaries
and .•rhe: ;enQfits - did not canna to any agreement. Mr. West did have a meeting
with all of the bus drivers tonight; have received more information and will continue
with negotiations;
3) next Transportation Committee meeting is February 24, 1975, $:15 P.M., City Hall.
Letters, Communications:
Clerk read letter from Linda Lenne~vers, Welfare Chairman Fairview Park Jaycee Wives,
addressed to President O'Neill, who are sponsoring a program called "Adopt a
Grandparent" stating what program involves. Letter to be xeferred to Mx. Copeland,
Director of Human Resources.
Clerk read Letter from State Representative Rocco J. Collona to President O'Neill
in connection with the Public Hearing on February 26, 1975, on proposed extension
of north south runway at Cleveland Hopkins Airport, requesting attendance at this
hearing and reasons therefor.
Mr. Goggin explained reason for many deletions to agenda: Mr. Wilamosky had
requested legislation 75-20 thru 75-23. As Chairman of the Stx®ets & Drainage
Committee, Mr. Goggin felt that in order to place the entire street resurfacing
program in its proper perspective he incorporate all of the balance of streets
that require resurfacing throughout the entire City limits. Tn Caucus this
evening Mr. Goggin and Mr. Wilamosky accepted the fact that they would remove
these from the agenda and not plague the agenda with the many readings, etc. ~d
will try diligently not only to take care of the streets which he has listed but
all of the streets in general. Mr. Wilamosky has good concern for those six streets
and they are on the list as the balance of the streets are. Will try to do the
streets that are in the worst condition until the money is depleted. If we are
able to complete ail of the streets this pear - great; and if Council feels as
the year progresses they would like to expend other type of monies that are not
available to the Committee - the Stxeeta & Drainage Con~ittee will be most happy
to be able to take advantage of that.
People addressing Council:
rYr. Frank Sharpe, 26787 Driscoll Lane, addressed Council pertaining to hand gun
control. Does not feel it is needed and gave reasons; also feels we need law
enforcement of those in violation.
Mr. Richard Spaeth, Tudor Drive, addressing Council on followiEg: hand gESne control -
something must be done; banded indebtedness; priority regarding capital facilities;
what councilmanic bonds are used for; Governor Rhodes' proposals.
