Council Minutes of 4-20-?6 -3- <br />3) April 27, 1976, at 8:00 P.M., City Hall, the Bqualization Board will meet <br />with some of the residents who have objected. So far the Clerk has received <br />80 letters of protest and people have until May 7, i9?6 to object. The Clerk <br />will notify the residents of the Heating on April 27th by letter; <br />4) Coaacnittee also discussed the Glendenning Ditch and Co~i.ttee will look at this <br />on Saturday; <br />5) There were several other questions that were to be raised; however as no <br />representative from Service Dept. was at the Heating will ask these questions <br />under Old Business. Service Director Gastez commented he does not believe the <br />Service Dept. was notified of the meeting. Mra. Saringer said there must have <br />been misunderstanding. <br />6) Mrs. SAringer reminded Council that it is iaportant for Council as a Whole <br />to attend the Equalization Board Meetings; thinks all of Council should Hake <br />every effort to attend and not put the burden on just a few. <br />Mr. Goggin, Chairman Recreation, Public Parks ~ Buildings, reported there will <br />be a Recreation Committee Meeting on April 26, 1976, 7:30 P.M., City Hall. <br />Mr. Beaty, Chairman Transportation Committee reported Committee met April 8, 1976. <br />There were a number of representatives from the City - the Mayor and quite a few <br />Councilssn; Fairview Park's Council Representative and a nu~er of representatives <br />from RTA. It was a lengthy meeting -discussed new scheduling which is their way <br />of designating some of the routes that we have and there may be soHe numbers changed <br />on some of these routes; but basically it was on some of their new systaHS. Also <br />discussed the new Dover Center run that will run between the Shopping Center and <br />Bay Village which initially started on April 19, 1976. IInder the new program as <br />of June there will be a nutAber of new runs to be added; and if all this does go <br />through we will need approzi.Mately 5 new buses and probably some mew drivers. <br />There will be soMe new designation for the types of buses running as far as how <br />many times they stop and where they stop. These things were all discussed as <br />far as relationship between our Council, our Bus Line and RTA; <br />2) requested legislation for Service Department to advertise to sell some of our <br />retired buses. <br />Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Intro Governmental RElations & Legislation Comm~i.ttee and <br />Public Safety, Health & Welfare Comm~.ttee, reported the Safety Commmittee-met with <br />the Finance Committee on April 19, 1976, and discussed a new pumper and two new <br />squads for the Fire Department. Zt would take approxiHately $165,000. for this <br />equipment and Safety Committee reconHends to request legislation to advertise <br />for bids; <br />2) Safety Director Carnahan is going to Columbus tomorrow to find oitt+•about a <br />Grant and if we can get this - we should be able to upgrade our equipment in <br />the Fire Department further. <br />Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Ft~ance Conrmi.ttee, reported Committee met with Council <br />as a Whole to discuss the direction the City will go regarding wage increases <br />for City Employees such as Pollee, Fire, Clerical, Building, Engineering and <br />other employees who have not yet received a wage increase this year. The Finance <br />Committee has Het with the Police end Fire Departments to discuss wage increa, es. <br />The Police Department has recently decided to break off joint contract talks with <br />the Fire Department and they have hired Professor William H. Rewi.tt, Sr. to repre- <br />sent them in 1976 contract talks. Mr. Wilamosky is in receipt of a comr~nication <br />from the Police Dspartm~ennt certifying that; <br />2) Committee also Het with Streets & Drainage Camsaittee and recotmiends continuing <br />with the sidewalk repair program. The City's portion of this prograH will be <br />$2,000. This amount has not yet been appropriated but Finance Committee will mahe <br />~..M <br />
