Council Minutes of 4-20-76 -g,. Under Old Business: Mrs. Beringer brought up follw+ing items: 1) Streets & Drainage Cq~mi.ttes would like a commitment from the Service Department in regard to certaie itass that are on agenda to be dons before Ws! get into another program of road repair. In Ward 2 there is a street that has to be concreted; Surrey Drive and others a~xi Comsittee would like to see an effort be made Lo cosplete these as soon as possible; 2) asked Service Director if letter has ban sent to those residents that did not eonfora with respect to woks tsstiag. Bsrvice Director Caster said letters are being prepared both to residents and to LaM Director; also discussed with Service Director When smoke testing will be r+esw+~ct; 3) Tree Flaming Program - whoa will this be taking place. Service Director said there are still trees avaf2abls far planting and he intends to check that out tomorrow. l~hcs. 3arin~er is rscoding that trees be pleated on llmbour Drive - her consitutenta ttav~e rsqusst~ad same. Service Director to check this out; 4) Weed Notice Complaints: When will these bs started. Service Dirsctcr said letters are going out presently. Mrs. Beringer requested Committee receive copy of the weed notices; 5) Spraying the ditches for mosquitoes: Mrs. Sariager has received calls and inquiry as to whether the City is going to try and control same and would the program coatinus as last year. Service Director said the Environmental Control Committee will have to tak$ scans under consideration; discussed borraNimg equip- ment last year sad buying the chemicals. it is a cost Which Was not anticipated. President Limpert referred matter into Finance Cosmittee and Havirotmrsntal Control Committee for consideration; 6) Mrs. Beringer referred to traffie flow at Clague and Lorain Rds. sad requested same be referred to Transportation Committee. Discussion enetued as to what has transpired in the past. President Lampert referred same into Transportation Commmittee for study; 7) Mrs. SAringer referred to situation at Waldo's Nursery with respect to dust, dirt, debris, etc. and discusasd the Administration enforcing the ordinance in regard to cosmsrcial property. President Lampert requested Safety Director Carnahan and Building Cossissio+sar Gv~dy to investigate the situation; 8) Mrs. Beringer referred to propszty on Ciague Park; referred to seating held last year at which it was detsrmi that a section of the woods ~+uid be cut down. In that area, also, children, teenagers are hanging out and neighbors have verified the actions there. Mrs. Beringer discussed the answers she received for the section of the woods not being cut down since last Fall and asked when some action will bs takes. There is new equipment to be installed in the playground and Mrs. 3arasger wsats that area cleated so that there is no place to harbour youngsters so that they do not damage any more things. Mr. Wila~sky requested Service Director to provide both the Finance Committee and the Eavironaoental Control Committee with estimated cost for spraying - not only for materials but for equipment and an actual as to what was spent for the amount of spraying done in 1975. Mr. Wilaneosky referred to report of Mr. Beaty on the advertising for sale of old buses and asked if Traasportati~ Comsittes has .considered advertising for bids to sell other types of equipment that is no longer useful to the City but dust occupies space. Discussion continued. Law Director Gareau stated that Mr. Weldon has already requested to include in the ordinance all surplus chattels that we have laying around.
