Council Minutes of 3-1-77 ~.3_
Mr. Lynch will take themo,.hack and ~etudy with RTA and see what a ~~ oe
made. Will try and see if we can get em:4 ~inR .tea a7 twr....r~ ~~to where they
are not so overloaded in the morning, etc. One of the problems is we do not have
enough buses end that was discussed. Mr. Lynch is going to try to adjust some of
the stops; txy to adjust oux schedules; see if we can get more buses; - see what
they can come up with and get back to the City in the near future. They are also
going to discuss whether it ~rould be feasible for us to get extra buses. Also
discussed briefly the extension of the contract with RTA. Mr. Beaty consented he
does not 'think RTA is completely sure how they want to handle it so as soon as they
decide they are going to contact the Administration. Also discussed the possibility
of getting a bus run into Chevy Blvd. sad Bxookpark Rd. which would take people
to the Brookpark Rapid and feels this would be appealing to quite a few people in
North Olmsted. This has bean requested before and they are going to get back to
Committee on this also. They did assure officials at the meeting that they will
be back in contact in the near future and at that time if we do not feel they have
answered these questions satisfactoxilq, we will have a public hearing for the
people who are concerned about the bus Iine with the people from RTA.
Mr. Boehmer, Chairman Fublic Safety, ~alth b Welfare Committee, stated within the
last week has sent a letter to the County Sngineex requesting certain streets such
as Dover Center, Claque and Stearns Rd. be resurfaced the entire length within our
City. Mr. Wilamosky asked Mrs. Bazinger if her committee intends to submit a formal
resolution to the County Ehgine$r requesting that type of action. Mrs. Saringex
stated she was not consulted on this letter and had explained to Mr. Boehmer that
we had already asked legislation in regard to a number of these streets that were
already mentioned fox funding a project of the Bngineer's and came out of the
Engineering Dept. and this was done quite awhile ago. Mr. Wilamosky stated he
thinks it is important that we do whatever we can to get what we can from Mr.
Stackhouse as County Engineer because if we dart request and pursue it, he may
very well decide to use these funds in other communities. Mr. Boehmer said it
is his understanding that this will be studied and we will hear from the County
Engineer`s Office shortly. Mr. Beaty commented he has talked with the County
Engineer's office a few weeks ago: they did do a study on the txaffic an Dover
Center Rd. and this will play a b1g part on whether or not they would be interested
in paving. Mr. Beaty explained what the study consisted of and he was informed
the study has been completed and the Transportation Committee is waiting to hear
from them.
Mr. Wilamosky, Chairman Finance Gommittee, reported the Finance Committee reviewed
Ord, No. 77-42 with the Administration. The total general fund appropriations listed
in that ordinance is $3,584,060. This ordinance would also provide an amount of
$254,750 of federal xevenue sharing money be set aside for operation and maintenance
of the Treatment Plant to help offset the expected deficit situation.- The Committee
is also concerned with the conditions of our streets. it was requested, as Mrs.
Saringer reported, that the Service Dept. provi e a list of streets which have
'required repAirs for sometime. It was also requested that the cost of labor and
material for each street be included. Would like to have this list so that we
could look objectively at the type of repair program that we are going to have this
year. Mr. Weldon advised Committee he would have such a list within the next
couple of days. There is no provision within Ord. No. 77-42 for additional hiring
of police and fire. Committee also discussed with the Administration streetlights
and have asked Acting Safety Director, Mayor Christman,,to review the various
locations requiring streetlights that were on the list Mrs. Beringer had and
report back as to what the Safety lk~paxtment's recommene~ations would be to goat
the streetlights - at a minimal amount to try to get aa'many streetlights spread
