Council Minutes of 3-1-77 -4- <br />throughout the community as we cam. At the joint meeting of Streets 6 Drainage <br />and Finance Committees, also discussed the resurfacing of Columbia Rd. as <br />reported out by Mrs. Beringer, and it was the consensus of both committees to go <br />ahead with this program. The City's share is $12,320. and when recoamtiendatlon was <br />made we also recommended that that amount be paid for out of the Street I~intenance <br />Fund money line item repair by contract. <br />Mrs. Sharpe, Chairman Building, Zoning b Development Committee, stated she has no <br />report, but read. letter received by her from Dr. and Mrs. James Plaatner, 23535 <br />Cedarwood Lane, North Olmsted., regard#.ag the various proposals being considered <br />with respect to the sewer rate and letter stated reasons why they are in favor <br />of the 3 mill levy and a sewer rate based on consumption. Mrs. Beringer commented <br />this. is a new development and wondered if they have water meters yet. <br />Letters, Communications: <br />Clerk of Council advised Council that today, March 1, 1977, she received <br />Referendum Petitions relating to Ord. No. 77-2, containing approximately 1386 <br />signatures. <br />President Lampert asked for a motion to include Ord. No. 17-49 on the Agenda. <br />Mrs. Beringer moved to ahead the Agenda to include Ord. No. 7 749, seconded by <br />Mr. Boehmer. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Beringer, Sharpe, West, Wilamosky. <br />Motion carried. <br />People addressing Council: <br />Mrs. Gemma Szabo, 30837 Bradley Rd., addressed Council regarding Ord. No. 77-41 <br />not posted; also stated she circulated sore of the getitions that would put <br />Ord. No. 77-2 on the ballot and repeated to Council somm of the comments she heard. <br />Feels the sewer rate concerns all of the people in the City and. would like to see <br />it on the ballot so that the people could say what they want. Also discussed the <br />60y increase propflsal, the 3 still levy and requested Council talk to their <br />constituents. <br />Mrs. Diane Gerstel, 23181 Marion Rd., addressed Council, stating she circulated <br />petitions to put Ord. No. 77-2 on the ballot, stating she opposes a 60X increase, <br />will support a 3 mill levy, discussed over 200 people would like to see a flat <br />rate and gave reasons therefor. Wants a flat rate and urged Council to reconsider. <br />Mrs. Winston, 27864 Edgepark Drive, addressed Mrs. Sharpe regarding her vote for <br />the 60X increase; legislation for the rollback; discussed the flat rate and wants <br />the flat rate in conjunction with the 3 mill levy. Discussion ensued. <br />Mrs. Sally Markusic, 5969 McKenzie Rd., addressed Council, stating she also <br />circulated petitions relating to Ord. No. 77-2, and told Council what the comments <br />of the people were. Discussed the 3 mill levy; the flat rate; the 60X increase; <br />the rollback legislation; her water consumption. Is in favor of the flat rate with <br />a 3 mill levy and thinks Council should ask the people what they want. Discussion <br />ensued. <br />Mr. Paul Farkas, 4506 Columbia Rd., addressed Council regarding the Senior Center <br />and what area this would cover. Mayor discussed mane. Mr. Farkas discussed the <br />request for no charge for the Comm~tity Cabin to senior citizens for three doings; <br />Service Director Caster said no decision has been made on this but gave his own <br />observations- regarding same. Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />
