Council Minutes of 1-I8-77 <br />-9- <br />An Ordinance authorizing the Building Commissioner to proceed with the <br />demolition or removal of a detached garage located. ~n permanent parcel Na. <br />235-i3-81,82, on Porter Road, in the City of North 3lmsted, and declaring <br />an emergency. <br />Resolution No. 77-9 was introduced by Mrs. Beringer. A Resolution to the United <br />States Postal Service requesting door-to-door delivery in new subdivisions within <br />the City of North Olmsted and declaring an emergency. Mrs. Beringer moved for <br />suspension of rule requiring three separate readings, due to the fact that <br />the Postal Hearing is on January 20th and this will serve as part of the testimony. <br />Motion seconded by Mr. West. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Fairfield, <br />Saringer, Sharpe, West, Wilamosky. Mrs. Saringer moved for adoption, seconded by <br />Mr. West. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Fairfield, Saringer, Sharpe, West, <br />WilamoQsckDy. Motion carried. Res. Na. 77-9 adopted. <br />Under ~- Business: <br />Mr. West stated inasmuch as Council did have a Committee of the Whole meeting <br />with the County Engineers to discuss Stearns Rd., he thinks it would be in <br />order that the wishes of Council be expressed with regard to this ao that we <br />have a formal reply to the County Engineers on the proposed widening of Stearns <br />Rd. <br />Mr. West moved that Council go on record as not favoring and turning down the <br />County Engineer's request for the widening of Stearns Rd., seconded by Mr. <br />Boehmer. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Fairfield, Saringer, Sharpe, West,. <br />Wilamosky. Motion carried. <br />President Lampert asked Mr. Boehmer whether he checked into request of Mrs. Zappone. <br />Mr. Boehmer said he will ask all of Council to consider this. <br />Under Nrn Business: <br />Mr. Wilamosky referred to motion xegarding Stearns Rd. and said he has been <br />approached by a group of citizens that feel they will be directly affected <br />if Stearns Rd. is widened and suggested to Mr. Wilamosky as their representative <br />in Ward 3, to introduce legislation to Council directed at the Ohio Department <br />of Transportation, to the Governor, to State Senators and Representatives, <br />indicating within the resolution that they as residents of the City and Council <br />request the above mentioned re-examine their plans for the construction of an <br />interchange at Stearns Rd. and I-480. Mr. Wilamosky stated he will discuss <br />with our Law Department the text of such resolution. Mr. Wilamosky discussed <br />many reasons why he feels the State should not waste thousands of dollars in <br />constructing an interchange on a roadway such as Stearns Rd., and why he feels <br />it is un3ust and unfair to the citizens of North Olmsted. <br />Mr. Wilamosky requested legislation setting the salaries of elected officials <br />for terms commencing 1-1-78; <br />2) leg~.slation setting cot~pensation for the 4 member Architectural Review Board; <br />3) legislation authorizing the advertising of bids for equipment for the <br />Service-Dept. as reported in Committee report. <br />Mr. Beaty brought up for discussion children smoking at Xhe Rec Center; how <br />the State Law on no smoking in designated areas could effect the Rec Center. <br />i~cigthy discussion ensued. Subject matter referred to Safety Director Carnahan. <br />Mx. Fairfield discussed the fact that Community Council will build picnic tables <br /> <br />
