Council Minutes of 8-r20-78 <br />-8- <br />Mrs. Petrigac discussed the cost to repair a car with sir conditioning and <br />requested Service Director Corrigan to check into same. <br />Mr. Beaty discussed the odor oa Mastick Rd. and Grace Rd. last night stating he <br />received a number of calls from residents, as did the Mayor, regarding the <br />sewer plant and asked if there was anything wrong or if this is so~rsthing the <br />residents can look forward to over the Suswer. Lengthy discesssion ~suad: it <br />was pointed out that one of the generators ass not operative last night but has <br />since been corrected. The Mayor, Service Director, Mr. Beaty and Mrs. Beringer <br />discussed the subject matter at length. <br />Mr. Beaty stated he missed the Transportation Committee meeting because he was <br />on military duty out of town for two weeks. <br />Mr. Beaty commended the Recreation Coa~ittee for the legislation on the agenda to <br />repair the roof of the Rec Center and thinks Council should consider suspension <br />of rule requiring three separate readings at next Council Meeting because this is <br />a priority item, etc. <br />Mr. Beaty discussed with Service Director Corrigan if the work had been done <br />regarding ditching on Fitch Road that he and City Engineer Zurawski had looked at. <br />Mr. Beaty will check same out. <br />President Limpert referred into Legislation Committee copy of resolution passed by <br />City of Euclid with respect to cost of living formula pertaining to fire and police <br />pensions. <br />Under New Business: <br />President Limpert stated he would like to encourage Council to consider the top <br />rate with respect to the salary of the Clerk of Council stating reasons therefor. <br />Mrs. Sharpe moved the compensation to be paid to the full time Clerk of Council <br />be $13,000 annually, seconded by Mr. Boehs~er. Mr. Logan stated he agrees with <br />the concept of an increase to the Clerk; however, after preliminary discussions <br />with the Clerk and sot~re others was under the impression that appxoxisataly $12,500. <br />would be sufficient. This would also be a compromise from other individvra points <br />of view and would have range to increase it at a later date. Mr. Logan <br />moved to amend the com tion to be paid to the Clerk of Council be $12,S00., <br />annually, seconded by Mrs. Beringer. Affirmative vote: Logan, Saringer. <br />Negative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Petrigac, Sharpe, Wilamosky. Motion defeated. <br />Mrs. Saringer stated it is over what the Mayor budgeted and thinks it is .improper. <br />Roll call on original motion: Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, <br />Sharpe. Negative vote: Saringer, Wilamosky. Motion carried. <br />Mrs. Sharpe moved the compensation to the Secretary to the Clerk of Council be the <br />top rate of $3.+46 per hour, seconded by Mr. Boehmer. Mr. Wilamasky asked if the <br />salary increase of the Secretary to the Clerk would be retroactive or effective <br />upon passage. It was pointed out that the salary increase of the Secretary to the <br />Clerk is not retroactive in the legislation. Mrs. Sharpe amended her motion to <br />include the salary increase for the Secretary to the Clerk become effective upon <br />passage, seconded by Mr. Boehmer. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, <br />Sharpe. Negative vote: Saringer, N'ilamosky. Motion carried. <br />_~~~;. <br />
