Noe. 78-77 and 78-?8 area an second reading tonight which dsala with the <br />placeaRat o€ stop signs at B~psp+erk ~ Pine Circle, and Bd & WoQdpark Drives. <br />Will be requesting suspension of rules of these two pieces of legislation. <br />Mr. Wilaeroskq, Chairaan Pinmdtcs Casrittee and Long flange Planning Committee, <br />reported the Long Range Plamzia~g Committee met Pktq 22, 1978, to discuss with <br />the Administration the Service Depaactaaatt equ~ipmsst with the hope to improve or <br />at least maintain the currant leeal of service because of the fact that >,uch of <br />our equipment is antiquated and is falling apart. Coaaeittee reviewed a list <br />provided by tkms Administration of existing equipment and general condition thereof. <br />Committee did not develop a rec tion and decided to meet again; <br />2) at May 22nd ~rtiag, I~rs. Lord, Chairsam of Landmarks Commission, appeared and <br />voiced the position of tlee Coevsisaion with respect to changing the status of City <br />Hall building to a historical sits. Appar~tly, Landmarks Commission seat a <br />communication to Planning Co~w^dsson who has not yet counted back to Landmarks <br />Commission as to their op~.nion. Ca~aittee requested Mrs. Lord to provide a copy <br />of communication to Planning Commission b Long Ra~xrge Planning Committee. Committee <br />has not received the copy but upon receipt of same will review it and present same <br />to Council for further action; <br />3) on May 30th, Loag Range Pla~cting Committee met with intention of having a point <br />meeting with Transportation Committee. The Transportation Committee lacked a quorum, <br />however, the Chairmen, Mr. r, was in attendance. It was the feral consensus <br />of Committee to recome®end adoption of legislation to purchase equipment and Res. No. <br />78-84 is on agenda tonight, which authorizes the Service Dirsctt~r to rose for <br />bids for 7 new automobiles. Oas of the automobiles will be used bq the li~stewater <br />Treatment Plant and it is the opinion of the Co~;ittee that it should be paid for <br />by the Treatment Plant; <br />4) discussed lees. No. 78-$1 which authorizes the Service Director to advertise for <br />bids for various equipment to be used in the Service Department and which are <br />Summer equipment needs: one 1 1/2 ton cab and chassis; one fare tractor acrd side <br />cutter; one hamsuer knife mower; five push hand cowers; and two riding moaners; <br />5) discussed Winter equipment needs which are listed in Res. No. 78-85: two dump <br />trucks;2-12'snow plow blades and frames; two deep type 4-wheel drive vehicles; <br />2 - 6' snow plow blades and frames; 3 - 2 1/2 ton dump trucks; one frottend loader; <br />two saltts'uck inserts and spreaders and one small panel truck. It is heaped that the <br />Administration will isplement a viable rsplacem~t program and Comed.ttse is requesting <br />that the Administration provide Cotm~cil with a written rec anon with respect <br />to financing this equipment -cost is soa~here in area of $370,4flt1. Mr. Wlamosky <br />requested Presid~eixt Limpert to refer legislation 78-81, 78-84 and 78-85 into <br />Transportation Committee for review atul recommendation. Hopefullq the A~#.aistration <br />will have ample time: to provide Cotimcil with the necessary financial information <br />with respect to financing the equipment. <br />Mr. Logan, Chairman Recreation, Pub3~ic Parks & Buildings Committee, reported: <br />1) Cometittes met and discussed a p+es~sible levq to appear on the ballot in November <br />and this would relate to tree 8eec Ce-lex and the funding far the ~bt service. <br />Although Committee did reach a recommendation at that time, Mr. Logan personally <br />
