Could have more specific recvma-eudaticas for -the Committee of Council;
S} regarding the independent four-wd~eel dxive deep-type contxaeto~~ o are plowing
out driveways: many of the: do a resprtnsible job in contracting with. the individual
homeownexa and a commendable job in trying to clear off the right of catty. However,
there are appar+sntly a few tired operators who are giving all of the contractors ~
black eye and in many cases they leaves the snow that they plowed out of the driveway
right in the street. Some of the pxoblests, such as rutted conditions on the struts,
which we have experienced in the last week are attributed to the fact that they
left the streets in pretty deplorable conditions. Thinks consideration should be
given to a very nominal registration fee for these pepple so that anybody that
contracts with them knows that they are zegiatered at City Ra11, and if they do
a poor Sob then they should be subject to appropriate sanctions of fine. That might
alleviate some of .the problems we have had in oux subdivisions;
6) the long range needs of the Service Department, not only in the area of snow
removal equipment, will be reflected fully in the 1978 budget;
7) have started exploratory r,.~tacts with the RTA relative to the City contract
which is going to be up for revisicat or review in October by Council. Would like
to state that xe have no pre-determined attitude t~ards this contxact and mat is
best for the City of North 07~rted is our pximaxy area of responsibility;
8) the Communitp Cabin is unde~x the direction of a new custodian and thinks that
some of the complaints that we have had in the past will be alleviated; '
9) on agenda tonight is legislation for wage range recommendations and specific
wage increase for tk~e hourly operators o~ the bus line;
10) discussed briefly at Fiaagce Comm~it:tee meeting the wage recommendations for
Service I3epartment generallq and Tremtment plant in the supervisory area and the
wage rec datians have been deferred sc that they could be fully reviewed by
the Finance Committee which they could not do at the last meeting based upon the
late hour.
Mrs. Petrigac asked Service Dixectar Corrigan when the chuckholes on Canterbuxy,
Dover, Porter and Lorain-Roads will be filled; and whether there is a list he will
be compiling to replace trees in treelawns. Service Director Corrigan discussed
the county roads that should be maintained by the County; the recomwendation of
the County &tgineer to the County Commissioners wi*_h respect to certain roads being
remanded back to the municipalities for appropriate care and maintenance, etc.
Service Director Corrigan stated the County was out today on Dover patching some
chuckholes: the City has cold patch crews out-and were working on Lorain Rd. today:
are trying to do .the best undex very adverse conditions.
