Council Minutes of 2-7-7~' _5_ <br />Mr. Logan discussed with Safety Director Fetre certain businesses along Lorain <br />Rd. who have not complied with their responsibility to remove snow from their <br />sidewalks: discussed whether it is about time L'rat the City start citing these <br />businesses and enforcing the law because of the safety hazard involved when <br />people are forced to walk on Lorain Rd. Discussion ensued. Safety Director Petra <br />explained what approaches the Safety Director has taken with respect to snow <br />removal on commercial and residential properties,. Mr. Wilamosky and Service <br />Director Corrigan discused whether the sides elks that the City is responsible <br />for are all cleared, etc. <br />Mrs. Beringer, Chairman Streets !~ D'rainage Committee, xegorted Committee meeting <br />was held January 24th. 'line Service Director e~tlightened the Com~,ttee on why they could not <br />do the kind of fob that everyone would be cosapletely sati~3fied with. The biggest <br />drawback was the lack of equipment and two plows could not be accepted because <br />they did not meet the specificat~.ons. The Service I?~.rector feels that with proper <br />equipment, personnel cross-training, upgr~alimg atud constant maintenance of <br />equipment the snow removal should be axe satisfactory in the €uture; <br />2) our service. garage facility is a tremendous handicap - it is very hard on <br />equipment when it stands out in the eleteet'tts <br />3) Committee wi11 look at the total e4!~nt needs for '78 and '74. Service <br />Director .Corrigan was to revise the ordi~aance on outside contracting for snow <br />removal; <br />4) Mrs. Sazing~er had asked about the tar and sea~.ing of streets and this was not <br />done in recent ya¢ars because of the lack of an afar codpressor. The City now has <br />one so the CoaMei;ttee recomaends that the tar and sealing resume this Summer. <br />Mrs. Fetrigac, Chairman Environmental Control Committee,reported Committee had a <br />3oint meeting with Long Range Planning Comittee on February 1, 1978,. far the <br />purpose of discussing the Final Envirc>~eepta-l Impact Statement on I-480. Mr. <br />Wilamoaky will report on that meeting in detail; <br />2) Committee discussed a "Noise Control./Land Use Compatibility Plan" at Cleveland <br />Hopkins Interrional Airport. This plan was given to the Committee by Mayor <br />Swietyniowski fnr consideraticna. Although there is no great effect from airport <br />noise pollution to North Opted today, as new rumaays axe added or lengthened <br />they may have an effect on the noise level, direction of planes and even building <br />codes to North Olmsted at a later ti.~. Committee believes it would be to the <br />City's benefit to have a representative on the Planning Team and Committee requests <br />that the Mayor send the application. <br />Mr. Beaty, Chairman Intra ~wexxuaaental Relations & Legislation Committee, reported <br />on Committee recommendations of Mayor's appointments: <br />Mr. Beaty moved Council approve the appointment of Marlene Orzechowski to the <br />Landmarks Commission, to fill vacancy of James Redavian, for term ending 12/31179, <br />seconded by Mrs. Saringer. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, Petrigac, <br />Saringer, Sharpe, Wilamosky. Motion carried. <br />Mr. Beaty moved Council approve the appointment of Mr. Ronald Bugala to the <br />Planning Commission, to fill the vacancy of Mr. Dennis Tischler, foz a term <br />ending 12131/82, seconded by Mr. Boehmer. Affirmative vote: Beaty, Boehmer, Logan, <br />Petrigac, Saringer, Sharpe, Wilamosky. Motion .carried. <br />
