Council Minutes of 10/4/83 -5-
Mrs. Saringer asked the Service Director if anything had been done with regard to
the situation at Rosita and Maria Lane and the bridges that needed repairs.
Mr. Corrigan advised that the bridge rails at both locations had been reinforced
with new concrete; the chain link fences have all been reinforced; they can be
traversed safely.
Mrs. Saringer also asked what had been done at Miller's Field. Service Director
advised reflectors had been placed at the end of Fawn; the property owner, where
the dumping was done, has recinded his permission for a landscaper to dump there
so there will be no further dumping in this area. Service Department wi11 cut
some of the grass close to the hames. The reflectors were used in lieu of a guard
rail however three posts were put up and no one can drive through.
Mr. Woerpel asked when Council would meet in the new chambers; Mayor replied
possibly by the first meeting in December.
Mr. Woerpel asked what the situation was with regard to the homes on Dover Center;
Mayor replied he was unable to negotiate any deal on the Department of Human
Resources home; assumes it will be demolished. Received a bid on the other two
homes - Administration and Building Department buildings. No effort has been made
to arrange for their removal. If they are not moved by next week, City will have
to raze them. Law Director stated that the successful bidder is liable for the
total bid cost as well as the demolition cost if he does not get them moved.
When and if the homes are demolished or are not removed, City will file suit within
a couple of days.
Mr. Woerpel asked if the Bus Garage lease at Glavik's had heen extended. Mayor re-
plied yes, it has been extended until the lst of November. Before the Aus Line
moves into the new Complex, inspectors need to go through the punch list and make
sure everything is in proper order.
Mrs. Saringer asked when the debris at the Park will be cleaned up. Service Director
advised that the Service Garage would be moving out of there probably November lst
to the 15th. Believes the cleanuu will be done by December lst.
Mrs. Saringer asked what had been done in the way of street repairs this year;
Service Director advised that there is project underway at Country Club Boulevard;
West Park and East Park were done, as well as a short spur road in the Park. Will
prepare a report that will sutrnaarize the repairs done to date.
Mr. McKay asked if all items had sold at the auction at the Rec Center; Mr. Petre
advised that two vans and the old golice ambulance would be incorporated with the
auction of service equipment, since they had not been sold.
Mr. Wilamosky commented that at a meeting on September 12th, with Service Director
Corrigan, the amount of street ma.terial needed was evaluated. Specific streets
were discussed, among them Martin Drive and Lynhaven. Council transferred an
additional $10,00 into street repairs. When will the resurfacing of the streets
discussed on September 12th take place? Director Corrigan stated they would be
taken care of within the next three weeks.
Mr. Wilamosky asked why some of the debris at the Park couldn't be put in the hopper
instead of being dumped in the field. Director Corrigan stated that debris is placed
in the hopper; has not attempted to put all the brush into the hopper; everyone knows
what the program is in the back end of the Park and feels it is more efficient than
chipping. There is no per charge cost for the hopper under the present contract with
BFI. If City suddenly runs three hoppers a da_y through, is afraid that will be re-
flected the next time he goes out for bids.
, ;?,
