Council Minutes of 9/6/83 '3- <br />2) Mr. Dale Chorba, representing Casey's Restaurant, requested committee review <br />4D its decision regarding the illumination of the pole on their pole sign. Mr. Woerpel <br />arranged a meeting with BZD Committee and Planning Commission for Tuesday, September <br />13th. <br />3) Mr. William Geisser, Attorney, requested BZD Committee to review the Romp Brothers <br />rezoning proposal previously denied by Planning Commission. A number of people spoke <br />against the proposal and presented a petition. After complete and full discussion, <br />Mr. Biernlan moved and Mr. Woerpel seconded, that the recommendation of the Planning <br />Commission be upheld; this was unanimously approved. Mr. Woerpel pointed out that <br />"no action" bq City Council constitutes agreement with the Planning Commission to <br />deny the zoning request. <br />4) Mr. A. L. Schneider, Shelby Fillingim and Diane Dabetz, Sohio representatives, <br />requested that the BZD Committee laok into possible legislation regarding canopies. <br />Mr. Bierman will revieW existing legis2ation and, if necessary, propose approQriate <br />legislation for committee and Council's review. <br />5) Mr. Woerpel alsa pointed out tfiat at the July 26th, 19$3 meeting, the Planning <br />Commission unanimously rejected a proposal to allow an opening to be znade in the <br />median strip of Country Club Boulevard to provide access for apropased restaurant. <br />6) Landmarks Commission met on Thursda_y, July 21, 1983 and welcomed Mrs. Gloria Seed, <br />26863 Butternut Ridge Road, as its newest member. At Mr. Woerpel's request, <br />Councilman McKay met with the commission and discussed the rationale behind Ordin- <br />ance No. 83-96; Mr. McKay will be recomm,ending tfiat the ordinance be amended to <br />allow the commission to reimburse for needed secretarial service. Mr. Dale Wunderle <br />pointed out that he has not yet received reimbursement for travel expenses which <br />were suhmitted to the Ma.yor on Ma.y 19, 1983. Report was given regarding a meeting <br />with Mayor Swietyniowski regarding the h.iring of Mr. Robert C. Gaede, AIA, as the <br />architectural consultant for the restoration and rehabilitation of Town Hall. <br />Chairman Betty Lord reported that the commission did not receive a grant for SOl <br />development matching funds for Town Ha.ll, from the Oha:o Historic Freservation Advisory <br />Bqard; were encouxaged to apply for funding in the fiscal 1984 year grant cycle. <br />Mrs. Elaine Freed of 27615 Butternut Ridge Road addressed the comTnission concerning <br />the efforts of the Southeast Area Homeowners' Association to preserve and protect <br />their res3dential area from commrcial encroachment. <br />Mx. McKay, Chaixman Environmental Control Committee as well as Public Safety, Health <br />and [aelfare Committee reported: 1) Contacted Mr. Gallito's office regarding Ordin- <br />ance No. 83-75, amendment pertaining to the tree planting on the south side only of <br />1480; Mr. Gallito feels there will be no problem with this amendment. <br />Letters and Communications: <br />Clerk of Council announced receipt of a letter and petition, signed by Steven M. <br />Burton, David J. Gamble and Robert K. Ream, asking that the name Ranchview Avenue <br />be changed to Tallwood Court; will provide Councilman Woerpel with copies of same. <br />Mrs. Petrigac reported that she has forwarded a legislative request for the change. <br />People addressing Council: <br />Mrs. Ma.ry Ann Shepherd, 25400 Country Club Boulevard, asked when Country Club would <br />be resurfaced. Mayor replied repairs are presently being made to the concrete base; <br />resurfacing will probably be done next Spring. <br />Bill Lackey, 5782 Burns Road, stated that he was Director and Midwa_y Chairman this <br />year for Homecoming; thanked the Mayor, Safety Director, Service Director, Rec <br />Complex Manager,Council President and Bob Nagy for all their heln.
