Council Minutes of 7/5/83
-5-
People addressing Council:
Mr. David Gardner, President West Park/Forest Ridge Civic Asaociation, addressed
Council regarding the cleaning out of the north end of the City Park; the damaged
Berkshire center strip pvst barrier; and curb deterioration. A1so wrote the
Mayor about the inadequacy of the leaf program. What is particulariy bothersome
is the fact that none of the corregpondence relating to these problems has been
acknowledged by the Administration. Service Director Corrigan responded that
the entire community must be served within the dollar parameters provided by the
budget; he constantly reassesses priorities and responds to emergencies such as
the recent weekend flooding as top priorities. The Service Department is going
to be removed from the City Park; the damaged cater strip post barrier was re-
moved - perhaps improper tamping left a puddle there; only has so many doilars
to repair streets and curbs; iatends to hire part time help to supplement the
raking process to improve leaf piekup.
Mrs. Gemma Szabo, 30837 Bradley Road, sfiated that she resented Mr. Woerpel's
reference to Ordinance No. 83-91 as "trash"; all legislation comes fram the
Law Director. Mr. Woerpel stated the Law Director draws up the legisls€fon at
the request of a member of Council; he puts it into legal language and Mr. Woerpel's
comment referred to the intent of the legislation and what it proposed to do, not
the legal and proper way in which it was presented.
Mr. Joseph Sepesy, 4268 Plumwood Drive, spoke on behalf of the proposal to establish
a separate Division on Aging; urged Council to allow the issue to go on the ballot
and let the voters decide.
Mr. Joseph Romanelli, 2851 Clague Road, discussed the bad fZooding and dama.ge done
to his basement and contents over the weekend. Service Director explained that
the LeBern lift station maZfunctioned; the ba:ckup system didn't take over because
the telemetry did not indicate there was a problem; Service Department is investigating.
Mr. James Lehr, 24156 Rosita Lane asked if the two bridges on Rosita Lane and
Maria Lane were being repaired as well as having the ditches cleaned. Service
Director advised that the Service Department plans to correct the situation.
Mr. Nick Vollman, Representative of Bob Evan's Restaurants, discussed the proposal
for the construction of a Bob Evan's Restaurant in Rorth Olmsted. The plans, which
were presented and rejected by the Planning Commission, have been amended. Would
ask for reconsideration. Mr. Vollman was advised to again present the plans, in
amended form, to the Planning Commission. They will then be forwarded to Council
with recommendation and be considered by the BZD Committee.
Ms. Alice Birmingham, 25500 Country Club Boulevard, stated that she saw no difference
at all between Ordinance No. 83-91 and Ordinance No. 83-76; titles are identical.
Mrs. Petrigac explained that while the titles appeared to be the same, the contents
of the ordinances varied and she would welcome the opportuztity to address the
senior citizens and explain. Mrs. Saringer announced that this legislation would
be fully discussed at her Le.gisiative Committee Meeting on July 12th, at 8:15 P.M.
and invited all interested persons to attend.
Mr. Henry Reichel, 5654 Columbia Road, again appea2ed to the Administration to do
something about 150 feet of drainage ditch on the south side of Carey Lane; would
Iike it covered as was done on the north side of the street.
